It looks like there was a problem trying to geocode your data. What types of columns or data were you uploading?

I just tested on Firefox on Mac and it worked. I'll test on Windows.

Good point about adding it to the documentation (and Bill is fast at work updating all of our videos. he's a rock star like that :)

Perhaps you can clarify about how your choosing the "Share link"? Is the data you're trying map data that you uploaded, or did you "Edit a Copy"?

Currently, you can't map overlay copies, just the original ones. But if it's data you uploaded you should definitely be able to Share it.

Hi Stephanie - you're right, looks like there is a problem with the /register location. Typically Sign Up is via a pop-up box, but it sounds like instead you're getting sent to the login page.

One thing to try while we fix this problem is to wait until the page entirely loads, so wait 20 seconds the first time. (the Javascript has to finish loading).

We'll get this issue fixed quickly.

Regarding simplified basemap - there are a few options. We are making some new styles that are very simple, and will checkout Tom's Natural Earth.

I'm curious - though - do the Scholars have historic maps they might like to use as the basemap instead?

Hi!

I assume you mean the Share icon button in Map Edit mode? This panel is actually going away (confusing for many users as well). Instead, save the map, then in the Map view page click on "Details" and you get the embed and links you can use to share the map.

Curiously, would you also like to have a "Share" that provides links to Reddit, Delicious, etc? (kind of like the 'Add this' buttons?)

Thanks Jubal - actually this is right for GeoIQ appliances, and the next release of GeoCommons. We simplified it to just overlays/id.format - more aligned with RESTful rather than a subdirectory for 'download'.

This is an odd problem. It sounds like perhaps there is a conflict or bug from another plugin? That is the typical issue.

Is the Firebug message literally "(JS Variable)" or is there a variable name?
