That depends on the file format you're working with -- check out Alok's post for an idea: http://getsatisfaction.com/participat...
Keep in mind there are a number of free utilities you can use to convert file formats. A lot of people like iSquint: http://www.isquint.org/ – Chris Markman, on September 11, 2008 15:10

Also, this is only true for the Windows version (and you actually need to copy over the preference file, it isn't automatic!) phew! – Chris Markman, on August 14, 2008 13:43

Download and install the stand-alone version and change settings within it -- it should transfer over for Miro playback.

Just to clarify, it is possible to transfer video files with a little format conversion, but in the case of iTunes integration most of the useful metadata will be lost. There isn't an elegant solution just yet. – Chris Markman, on August 14, 2008 13:04
Chris Markman replied on August 14, 2008 13:02 to the question "when i run miro my internet connection is too slow or breaks!" in Participatory Culture Foundation (Miro):
Short of Miro simply downloading/uploading a lot and causing a bandwidtth bottleneck on your system, this is really hard to diagnose without knowing more about your network setup or what content (and type of content) you're downloading.
Most older routers are not designed with P2P in mind. I had the same problem until I installed DD-WRT on mine. Do so at your own risk!
My guess? Your ISP doesn't like Bittorrent traffic, shame on them. EFF comes to the rescue.

You guys make a convincing argument. I'm not saying it can't or won't be done, but understand that time and resources are limited on the coding side of things.

As far your second question, it's an active ticket in bugzilla -- so don't worry! we're aware and working on it.
