Al Mellor replied on November 12, 2009 10:02 to the question "Two different links" in Yuuguu:
Yes, if you click web share, your screen can be seen by anybody who you have given the URL and PIN code to. It is not limited to people on your contacts list.
One thing that is not mentioned in that short video clip is where you find the URL and PIN code to give out. When you click on Web Share, a new window will open. This will have the 'Show' button at the top left. Underneath it, you will see a line like:
This is the information you need to send out to the people you want to view your web share.

Al Mellor replied on November 09, 2009 09:20 to the question "How to log out/ log off?" in Yuuguu:
I still don't understand this, and I am wondering if we are all talking about the same thing?
If you have two yuuguu accounts, you can sign in with one and then the other. You would sign in with one of them, sign out, then sign in with the other one.
As a convenience, Yuuguu remembers which Yuuguu account you signed in with last. As a further convenience, by default, you are automatically logged in to Yuuguu with the last account you were logged in with.
This has been well received by the majority of our current users, who only have one Yuuguu account. But if you need to switch between multiple Yuuguu accounts, it can be a nuisance. You can turn this feature off. Instructions to do this are here After you follow those instructions, Yuuguu will always start up by giving you a login screen, where you can put in any Yuuguu account you like.
I wasn't sure that you were talking about this though. Is this what you meant? That you have multiple *Yuuguu* accounts, and that you want to switch between them? Or did you mean something else?
( Note: In the above, what I mean by a Yuuguu account is a valid email address and password combination that can be used to gain access to the Yuuguu Desktop Client. You will have had to go through our Sign Up process first, after you downloaded the Yuuguu Desktop Client software so that we can set up an account for you with your chosen email address and password )

Al Mellor replied on October 30, 2009 09:25 to the question "how do i change my account name?" in Yuuguu:
You can change your display name easy enough. In the Desktop Client:
1. Click on your name. This should bring up the preferences window.
2. Have a look down. You will see 'Your Name' with an input box underneath
3. Enter your new name in the box, then click the 'Change Name' button to the right
That will change your name as it appears on your desktop client, and also how it will appear to people who add you as a contact from then on.
On the bad news side, if you are looking to change the email address which you sign in with, at the moment we don't support that. It is a feature that we know people want, and so it is on our todo list. There is no committed release date for it at this time.

A comment on the question "can i sign out of yuguu then how am unable to do so" in Yuuguu:
Okay, chitzs I understand that situation better now. You are correct. Yuuguu is designed to be most easy to use on your own personal computer. It has not really been designed to be used by many different people in internet cafes. You can do it, but it is not as good.
I can see why you would find this an 'amusing' missing feature if you are used to using other IM clients on shared computers. Other IM clients surely have that. Yuuguu really isn't designed to be that right now, the IM part is there to support the uses it *is* designed for - remote team work, small webinars and remote 'helpdesk' style support. None of those uses really need a 'log out' feature so much, so we've never really thought about that much.
As in the other thread, I can only suggest you uncheck 'Remember Me', uncheck 'Login Automatically' and then use the 'Quit Yuuguu' option. That will certainly stop interruption for the rest of your session, and will stop future cafe users from logging in as you.
That is an interesting report, though - I had no idea Yuuguu was being used in that way. Your suggestion makes a lot of sense for that use. We would need to look into whether we could make Yuuguu work that way; Yuuguu really needs a logged in connection by a Yuuguu user to be most useful.
Thanks for the suggestion and the very clear description why this feature would be an obviously useful thing to you. We will certainly consider it.
Thanks -

Al Mellor replied on October 21, 2009 12:37 to the question "How to log out/ log off?" in Yuuguu:
Sorry, I don't fully understand that question.
You can log out from Yuuguu. It is simple to do so.
On Windows:
1. Right click on the red Y icon in the system tray
2. Click 'Quit Yuuguu'
You are now logged out of Yuuguu's IM and screen sharing capabilities.
Someone else asked earlier today if it is possible to switch off the IM part and carry on using screen sharing. This is not possible - and I think his is what PhillC was talking about.
You might also have been asking about how do you log out of a particular IM service. Say you have linked Yuuguu with your AOL, MSN and GTalk accounts, you might want Yuuguu to no longer connect to them. That is also easy.
1. Right click on the red Y icon in the system tray
2. Click 'Preferences...'
3. Open the 'External Accounts' tab
4. Click the account you no longer want Yuuguu to connect to
5. Click 'Delete Account'

Al Mellor replied on October 21, 2009 09:27 to the question "How do I accept screen sharing?" in Yuuguu:
Just some other pointers that may be useful:
- If you miss the popup on your computer, your contact can accept in another way. Go to the main Yuuguu window, and you will see an 'Unread Messages' section has appeared. It will list your mother's user name. Click on this, and it will bring up the 'full' chat window. At the top of this will be a note about the request, plus the accept and decline buttons.
- We will release in the near future a convenience: you can ask your contact if they will share their screen with you. Your contact will get a pop up and all they need to do is click accept to start a share with you. This simplifies the explanation process for you, and is a good accesibiliy help for vision impaired people, because there is sound and movement involved, rather than forcing them to scour the screen looking for a particular button.
hope that helps (a bit). Let us know if you both have more problems, we'll see what we can do.
All the best - Al.
Al Mellor replied on October 20, 2009 08:22 to the question "How do I delete my chat history?" in Yuuguu:
Sorry, Scott, but no. We've added a great many things but not chat delete.
I can suggest a workround that might be useful to you, though, where it is applicable. Our Web Share feature - where the viewers use a web browser, rather than the Yuuguu Desktop Client - treats chat history differently. As soon as you end a Web Share, the history is cleared immediately.
The figure of 9 days was a surprise to me, but looking at my own Yuuguu 'Recent Chats' panel, I have some conversations of one month old in there. Whilst chat history retention period is not something we guarantee on our current products, this does strike me as something that has changed.
I have to say this is something we are unlikely to change before releasing our formal solution to this, which will cover many aspects of users controlling the amount of history they want. We need to roll out some internal changes to servers to do this, a task which is progressing on-track here at Yuuguu, but still not near completion, so seeing this in our product is still some way off.

Al
Al Mellor replied on October 19, 2009 09:12 to the idea "Feature Request: "___ is typing"" in Yuuguu:
Yep, just to agree it is a great feature request that we all want in-house as well.
I often workaround this by (let me do it as an example) :
"breaking up my
lines into short ones, and
leaving a word at the end so that
you expect more."
Nowhere near as good as a typing indicator. But helpful in the interim.
Many thanks for bringing us such a good suggestion - please do tell us anything else that occurs to you!

Al Mellor replied on October 19, 2009 09:08 to the question "Web page in a web page in a web page ...etc" in Yuuguu:
I can only think - based on my own experiences - that you have a web browser open yourself and are viewing the share at the same time as sharing.
Could that be the case? You should be able to click your Skype-without-Yuuguu contact's name, click Show, and that's it. Your contact should get a link, which they click on to open our web viewer. You, who will be using the Desktop Application, will have already started to share your screen with this contact, and should need to do nothing else.
If it's not that, please do let me know some more details.
Thanks - Al.

It should work. Can you show me? Why not add me as a Yuuguu contact ( alan.mellor@yuuguu.com ) then I can send you a link and we'll see what happens. – Al Mellor, on October 15, 2009 19:01

of interest to this thread, although unlikely to be the cause of the problem: Yahoo (and others) have had to reset certain users' passwords, following a large-scale Phishing attack.
