I'd like to add that putting their email into the Ugrade box again does force them to show up and be employees. And that, come to think of it, I may not have correctly forced a page refresh (I did refresh the page but perhaps Opera over-aggressively cached the page?). I'll let you know if this happens again.
Alan H. reported a problem in Get Satisfaction about 2 hours ago:
Bug in invite-by-upgrade functionalityInvited users (via the Upgrade invite functionality) are not showing up in the admin users page and apparently not getting marked as employees automatically!
Alan H. marked one of Eric Suesz's replies in Get Satisfaction as useful. Eric Suesz replied to the idea "Allow pre-publication moderation (and implicitly, private threads)".

Nope, you understood our concerns exactly and we'll be very pleased to see the features you and amy described. The sooner the better. :) – Alan H., about 3 hours ago

Great! I'm glad that your needs will be met by this feature. Stay tuned... – Amy Muller, about 4 hours ago
A comment on the idea "Allow pre-publication moderation (and implicitly, private threads)" in Get Satisfaction:
It actually should, as it helps make it explicit to the user that most of what they are posting is PUBLIC which is an issue that has arisen (personally, I once asked Pownce for a refund here on GetSat which was not something I really ment to do publically) -- so this does solve the issue I had. Thanks for clarifying. – Alan H., about 4 hours ago

To clarify, though, we don't have plans for content to be held for moderation BEFORE publication. As Eric mentions above, we are considering the idea of flagged content being hidden temporarily until Get Satisfaction moderators have a chance to review it and determine if it qualifies for removal or not. However, external company reps will not be able to remove users' content from GS. That is intrinsic in our "Switzerland" model.
But also, as Eric mentions, we will be providing some additional fields for private information when posting topics. Only official reps from a given company will be able to view that private information so that people can safely post it. Hopefully this feature will serve the need you have.

Eric Suesz replied about 24 hours ago to the idea "Allow pre-publication moderation (and implicitly, private threads)" in Get Satisfaction:
We are working on adding a "private note" functionality whereby customers can include any sensitive info like this in a separate field. That's one part of it.
We also are playing with the idea of having flagged content be put in a possible purgatory area for review. In this way, you could spot sensitive info that a customer may have inadvertently included.
So, yes, you are correct -- this is something we need to do. Spot-on idea!

Allow pre-publication moderation (and implicitly, private threads)Is there a way to moderate questions before they become public? There should be!
We are somewhat concerned that users may post personal information inadvertently. Allowing us to keep questions private or choose to release a thread publicly will solve our biggest (only?) problem with Get Satisfaction.

Alan H. replied 1 day ago to the question "Is there a way to get a badge that does not show my @ replies?" in Twitter:
I haven't implemented this, but someone may have already and it's certainly possible: Yahoo! Pipes could be used to strip out @-replies and leave exactly X (say, 4) standard updates, assuming at least X of the last Y (say, 10) are standard updates.
A server-side script implementing caching would guarantee exactly X standard updates.
