Hi Eric.
You're right. It isn't a PFW problem. I disabled the firewall and the problem still exists.
It is just such a coincidence that after I installed PFW the network disappeared and after I set some parameters, I was able to rebuild part of the network, just leaving me with this last problem.
If there are any suggestions as to how to resolve it, I'd be grateful to know. :-)
Regards,
Alan.
Alan Baker asked a question in Sunbelt Software on March 05, 2009 10:28:
Can't copy or move files across the local networkI had an existing network and installed Sunbelt PFW on some PCs although I cannot install it on one using XP64.
Since then, several PCs on my network just disappeared from view on other PCs. I have one PC running XP32 which I use as a storage and simple printer server and that is still accessible on the LAN, but that one does not yet have PFW installed.
I managed to partly setup the network again by re-running the Network Setup Wizard and just re-defining the workgroup to the same setting as before.
This has left me with folders and files with sharing permissions that I can see and I can even load and save the files into applications across the LAN, but I cannot copy the files or folders from one PC to another or copy or move files on one PC using another to command the task. I just get a message - Security alert - Your current security settings do not allow this action, which I presume is coming from PFW? Can someone help me to set this right, because despite reading the help, Knowledge Base etc. files, I can't see where the setting is wrong.
FWIW Printer and file sharing is set on and printing works OK.
Regards,
Alan.-
