I'm having a problem with my HP Compaq 6715b laptop.

I was watching BBC iplayer and the sound suddenly cut out, as well as the USB ports stopped working. Also, the processor was shown to be running at 50%, but system idle processes were still at 99%.

I found from searches on the internet that this is a problem with the driver, and established the best way to sort is with a re-format, so I removed the hard drive and backed everything up.

When I put the HDD back in to reformat and reinstall windows, the fan came on and HDD spooled up, but there was no display on the monitor.

I've tried connecting it to an external monitor, but still no joy!
