A comment on the question "Your instructions don't work for mp3 sound" in O'Reilly Media:
Steve,
Thank you so much for your reply.
Your question 1:
I have been having problems with Flash player for months, after loading CS3, and finally got that straightened out a few days ago. I just went in and re-did the sound section and now all works well on Internet Explorer.
I am still having problems with Foxfire browser, my default browser. When checking the sound page through Foxfire I get Circles with Question makers where the buttons should be. I know WMP supports mp3 but it appears that Foxfire doesn't support WMP. I have gone back to Foxfire this morning and ask for their support on the plug in for mp3.
If you know the answer to this problem, your suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks again for your prompt reply,
Al Baker

Hi, Alan,
Sorry for the hassles you're experiencing here. We'll get to work on helping you to figure this out.
1. Are you running into this problem (receiving the error message) when you try to complete step #8? (page 264)
2. What web browser are you testing in?
Thanks,

Your instructions don't work for mp3 soundmp3 brings up a message when checking in browser. Following your instructions from page 261 to page 264 of "dynamic learning dreamweaver CS3", I find that when checking out with the browser that I get a message " Unable to find the plugin that handles this media type. Dreamweaver looks in both the "Configuration/Plugins" folder, and the plugin folder for each of your installed browsers".
I have no problems with sound mp3,wav, etc. when on the web. How can I overcome this problem with your instructions.

No Flash on Common Tool Bardynamic learning dreamweaver CS3 Page 250 shows Flash on common menu. I don't have it but do have flash and flash player on computer (Full CS3 Suite). I have uninstalled and re installed Flash CS3 and its Flash Video companion. Nothing Helps.
Can't find anything in Dreamweaver help. There must be a preference or plug in I have to install.
Help!

Steve Weiss replied on April 14, 2008 17:57 to the problem "No reply to Audio Question!" in O'Reilly Media:
Hi, Alan,
I thought I'd left a reply here a few hours ago, but it's not showing up. I'll restate my earlier message to you:
1.) We owe you a major apology for making you wait 8 days for a response.
2.) The missing files are available on the book's O'Reilly based page:
http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/978059...
http://examples.oreilly.com/978059651...
At least, I'm presuming these are the ones you're missing from the book's DVD.
3.) As for the audio problem, we can send you a replacement copy if you'd like to send me your mailing address offline, to steve@oreilly.com.
The book's editor did some troubleshooting and sent me this report:
"I just checked the Dreamweaver DVD from a random book, plucked
off the shelf down by the receptionist.
I happened to have my headphones with me (standard, low-end
Sennheiser headphones), and the audio is just fine with them.
It's a little low without them, however (using just my PowerBook's
built-in speakers). It may be that Alan just got a bad DVD or
something else hinky is going on with his system.
I listened to various points in every lesson. It is true that without
the headphones, there are a few points where the audio is
a bit low, but not anywhere near inaudible. With the headphones,
the audio is absolutely loud enough (I even had to turn it down
a little so I didn't blow my eardrums out)."
So Alan, let's try a replacement copy first, and if that doesn't wortk, we can try something else, okay?
Again, my apologies for the hassles this is causing you.
Best regards,

No reply to Audio Question!Just bought Dynamic Learning Dreamweaver4 CS3 Video refers to files that don't exist.I see that you have those files available. Another problem is that the audio is extremely low. I have all my volumes up to their highest and still have to press earphone hard against my head to hear and then it is just a whisper. I edit videos and audio all the time and know my system is in top shape.
I asked this as a question and got no reply! Maybe as a problem it will>
