Alex replied on October 29, 2009 19:10 to the question "spill has all but killed my macbook. save me!" in Apple:
If you have a technical background (or know a lot about macs) there are some tutorials out on the web which you can google, that teach you how to "wash" and repair your own keyboard, clean out any dried liquids from inside your mac portable, etc... However, they are all "do at your own risk"...
Other than that, going to a technician or the Apple Store is your best bet...
Good Luck!
A comment on the question "Moving iWork between macs" in Apple:
P.s. - If you are talking about the "gray" DVD install disks (AKA: restore) that came with your mac. You won't be able to move files from that DVD to your new mac because those disks are mac model specific... – Alex, on September 24, 2009 20:54

Alex replied on September 23, 2009 21:31 to the question "Moving iWork between macs" in Apple:
QUOTE: "I have purchased iwork08"
If you have purchased iWork'08 then all you need to do is install it from the DVD you got inside the iWork'08 box.
If you got it as a download from the Apple Store then you should be able to re-download from the receipts / downloads section in your Apple Store account (you have to login to your account).
Alex replied on September 12, 2009 12:32 to the question "MacBook 2GHz Intel Core Duo bad enough to justify a Recall??" in Apple:
Some MacBooks from 2006 & 2007 had to have a new layer of thermal paste put on. The manufacturer had a problem with the thermal paste machine & Apple wasn't informed until later (not having enough or having too much can cause overheat / instability problems). Apple did offer to have a new thermal paste layer put on for free. However, the cases are pretty isolated around the world and your local techs / Apple office might not have had a report about it before. Did your technician check the memory modules? Most of the MacBooks with the thermal paste problem have paste all over the RAM slots that can cause connection problems and instability (causing your computer to crash, overheat, etc).
I would recommend that you find a good Apple tech in your area with a good rep. or call Apple for your available options...

Alex replied on September 03, 2009 00:44 to the question "How do I reset or locate Apple Mail Password?" in Apple:
If You want to try Apple first:

Else try this:
> Open Keychain Access.app ( /Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access.app ).
> Scroll through the list or type the name of the app or
account in the search box. (you should find it pretty easy)
> Double click it and check the box that says, "Show Password."
> You'll be asked for your system wide password.
> Your forgotten password for your mail account should be displayed.

Alex replied on August 31, 2009 16:03 to the question "Why can't .avi movies play on Quick Time" in Apple:
Quick Time CAN play AVI movies, as to why Apple does not include the codecs with QT: Mainly because Apple follows industry standard procedures and includes all the codecs needed for normal video viewing. Codecs such as AVC1/WMV/WMA (all proprietary Microsoft codecs) & DivX (a DivX networks codec) are not standard and do require other 3rd party files for support. This is why they are not included in QT. However, if you look around other 3rd parties do have plugins and codecs available for QT.

Alex replied on August 31, 2009 15:40 to the question "How do I remove a partition and keep my data." in Apple:
Hi,
If I were you, I would get an external HDD copy all the important data to it or use Time Machine and do a full backup. Then undo the partition by using the tools in Disk Utilities. Then copy your files over to the MBP.
p.s. - depending on what the sysadmin did, you might have to erase your entire disk, reinstall OS X and then copy your data...
