Alex shared an idea in Cl.ickable on September 11, 2008 23:51:
Add comments feature to clipboard.I think you should add a comments feature to the clipboard. That way, when you clip something, you could add a bit more detail - why you clipped it, who you clipped it for...whatever. Could also be useful down the road. Searching by comments, for example.
Alex replied on September 11, 2008 23:38 to the discussion "Clips: Public vs. Private" in Cl.ickable:
I think having a public option greatly increases the utility of cl.ickable - and the visibility of the tool. If I have some research that I want to share, or want to use the web clipboard more as a micro-blog, a public feature only increases the value to a user...and if I saw "clipped by cl.ickable", I'd be curious enough about the tool to check out. Although I suppose you get the same effect when sharing clips via email.
I do believe, however, that the social aspect (public) should not come before the utility to the individual user (private). If Cl.ickable were to become another del.icio.us or push "social networking" ahead of the value it has to an individual, you risk losing sight of why Cl.ickable is useful. There are some things I don't want to share, but there are others that I'd be willing to show the world. Maybe what people were clipping could be a sort of digg ... or viewpoint into what people think is cool on the web.
