I *DO* have this problem.
http://twitter.com/alexs77/status/108...
It reads: =?utf-8?Q?Fl=C3=B6ten
It should read: "Flöten".
I send this from my Nokia 6300 as an MMS email.

I think, I'm having a similar problem. On the recent posts page, http://ping.fm/recent/, it shows:
http://ping.fm/p/ePuvP - Und hier ging der ganze Mll hin.
Note the broken ü in Müll (or Mll).
But on the post page http://ping.fm/p/ePuvP, it looks well.-

Alexander reported a problem in Ping.fm on December 26, 2008 18:30:
Bandwidth Limit ExceededI just posted a (test) picture via email and wanted to look at it at http://ping.fm/p/lP25T , but I just see an error message:
Bandwidth Limit Exceeded
The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to the site owner reaching his/her bandwidth limit. Please try again later.
Apache/2.2.9 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.9 OpenSSL/0.9.8b mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 PHP/5.2.6 Server at 208.78.40.133 Port 80

The error message is shown instead of an image, which is (supposed to be) at http://p.ping.fm/img/ly11jWAN/t/242c1...; so it's the server p.ping.fm which is making problems.
................
A few hours later....
The problem still exists for the URL mentioned above -> http://ping.fm/p/lP25T. But for new images, eg. http://ping.fm/p/6uzRD , all seems to be well.

Oh, that's also a useful link - not so much for the picture stuff, but for "random other stuff".
Thanks a lot as well! – Alexander, on December 26, 2008 16:50

Oh, zannel is almost perfect :) The only minor downside is, that it uses the name of the picture as the name of the picture :) in Flickr. That's in so far unfortunate, as the picture name is always something like "Bild042" and that's not descriptive. Instead, it should use what's given in the "Subject" as a picture name.
But I guess I'm now looking for perfection here :) Maybe I gotta resort to DIY, after all :) Can't be that hard, I suppose.
But besides this very minor "problem", Zannel is perfect.
Thanks a lot for mentioning it! – Alexander, on December 26, 2008 13:54

Oh, there's a settings page? :) I must have totally managed to overlook the link - but now I do see it as well.
I gave it a try and dislike it a bit. What I dislike is, that it doesn't use the text "attached" to a picture (or "presentation", as my Nokia 6300 likes to call MMS messages). Instead, it only uses the text used as the description/subject. This is in so far a problem, as my Nokia phone only allows 40 characters in the subject of a MMS message and thus doesn't allow to make full use of the 140 chars (or more like 125 chars, because of the image link) you've got in Twitter. This (ie. the 40char limit in the subject) might be a limitation of my phone (Nokia 6300), I don't know - but because of that limitation, TwitPic is 100 characters short of fulfilling the requirements... :)
Doesn't anyone know of Flickr & Twitter mashup which does what I'm looking for?
Cheers and thanks again,

Alexander asked a question in Twitter on December 25, 2008 18:49:
Service for posting pictures on TwitterHi.
I'd like to create tweets containing pictures that I'd like to send in from my mobile via MMS or email. Those pictures should then be uploaded to my Flickr account as well.
I know that Twitter.com doesn't support pictures by itself. So I'm looking for a third party site/service which allows me to send in pictures via MMS or E-Mail and which will then create a Tweet with a short url to the picture and also with the text I entered.
Kinda like what Twinkle does (or seems to do, if I have a look at eg. http://twitter.com/marxist/status/107...).
Can you guys recommend something?
I found Twitpic.com but I don't know how to use it. So that's out of the game.
I also found services like the one at http://flickr.twittergram.com/ which grabs the RSS feed of Flickr and makes a Tweet out of this. But at least http://flickr.twittergram.com/ doesn't fully cut it, as it doesn't get the full (or at least first 140char) of the descriptiong text of a picture (compare http://www.flickr.com/photos/alexs77/... to the tweet at http://twitter.com/alexs77/status/107... ). So that's also not quite what I want.
Looking forward to your recommendations!
Cheers and merry Xmas,
Alex-
