Hey Ben,
Unfortunately none of us know about anyone using Bloomberg OMS with Hive. We do, however, know of some people using MicroStrategy with Hive.
The financial industry has just begun adopting Hadoop as a data processing and storage platform, and we expect support for tools such as Bloomberg OMS to grow as time goes on. We often work on feature requests from our customers, but none of our customers thus far have needed Bloomberg OMS. Let me know if you'd like to know more about what we offer to our customers.
I'm sorry I don't have a better answer, Ben. Let us know how else we can help.

Hi Sammy,
It turns out that DFSCIOTest isn't supported right now, so its failure is expected. Take a look: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse...
I hope this clears things up. Let us know how else we can help. Thanks,
Alex

Hi Ben,
I'm sorry to hear that ODBC support doesn't exist in Windows. Might it be possible to run Hadoop on Linux machines, where it's better supported, anyway. Or perhaps you could tell me a little about your use case? I might be able to recommend a workaround.
Thanks, Ben. I hope we can help you with your problem.

Alex Loddengaard replied on December 08, 2009 01:24 to the question "Cloudera EC2 image that has Hadoop 0.20.1 & HBase 0.20.2?" in Cloudera:
Hi there,
Unfortunately we don't have any EC2 scripts to help you with HBase. However, using our EC2 scripts, you can fire up a cluster with Hadoop 0.20.1. Take a look: http://archive.cloudera.com/docs/ec2....
You can use these scripts to fire up a Hadoop 0.20.1 cluster, and then install HBase from RPM: http://archive.cloudera.com/redhat/cd...
Thanks, and let us know how else we can help.

Hi Ben,
I believe the best documentation out there is the Hive wiki. Here we go:
JDBC: http://wiki.apache.org/hadoop/Hive/Hi...
ODBC: http://wiki.apache.org/hadoop/Hive/Hi...
I hope this helps, Ben. You might also want to direct your Hive-specific questions to the Hive user list. Your questions will reach a broader audience there.
Thanks, and good luck,
Alex

Alex Loddengaard replied on November 30, 2009 21:42 to the question "Can Cloudera be a solution to easily run Hadoop on Opennebula?" in Cloudera:
Hi,
Most of our customers using Hadoop in production do so in their own data centers, on physical hardware. An elastic Hadoop cluster, like the one you're working with, is great for proof of concepts. However, running Hadoop on virtual machines, in the cloud, might not give you data locality, which greatly slows down Hadoop's performance.
I hope this answers your question. Thanks!

Hi there, we currently have tools to help you run Hadoop in Amazon Web Services, but not Opennebula. Take a look:

I hope this is interesting! Thanks,

Hi Ken,
I noticed that your issue was brought up on the Hive user list as well, and that you've been responded to. Questions like these often make sense to be posted on the user list, because your questions will reach a broader audience. We created this forum to answer more Cloudera-specific questions, but we're happy to do what we can to help.
So I'll assume that discussion will continue in the Hive list. Please let us know if you have other questions.
Thanks,
Alex

Hi Mark,
FreeBSD packages aren't on our roadmap still, but our source (tarball) distribution should run in BSD: http://archive.cloudera.com/cdh/
I'm sorry I don't have better news, but please let us know if you have any issues with the tarball.
Thanks,

Alex Loddengaard replied on October 22, 2009 20:09 to the question "Installing 64 Bit version of Hadoop" in Cloudera:
Hi Linh,
Unless you need Hadoop native packages (e.g., libhdfs), you can just install our latest RPM packages. Follow the instructions here:
<http://archive.cloudera.com/docs/_yum...>
Use the stable release (CDH1) if you want total stability. Use the testing release (CDH2) if you want newer features, 0.20.
Thanks,
Alex

Alex Loddengaard replied on October 15, 2009 17:50 to the problem "Hadoop 0.20.0 : CheckSum error & Broken Pipe error" in Cloudera:
Hi there,
First, this forum is specifically meant for CDH, which is Cloudera's distribution for Haodop. You may get generic Hadoop questions like this answered more quickly on the Hadoop user list: http://hadoop.apache.org/common/maili...
Your problem probably has to do with your Python script. Hadoop streaming gives your Python script stdin, and your Python script writes stdout. If you don't handle stdin and stdout correctly, I expect you'll get BrokenPipe errors.
Hope this helps.
