Maybe you need to do a poll of bloggers- what do their readers think? I guess you've got 2 kinds of users- those who sign up with Skribit, (either with their own blog or not) and those who use the widget on the web page and perhaps don't go further.
Perhaps: You keep the 100char limit for display purposes, but let the suggester type in more than that, and bump out the overflow to a comment... (a 'more' at the end) and after that happens, perhaps they will learn to be more succinct and elaborate in comments. Will also encourage people over to the Skribit website.
I think you can find a balance between these two important things:
Happy display length for the widget + comprehensive suggestions (maybe long!)
Alison replied on August 15, 2009 11:46 to the problem "Blogged suggestions with ane empty blog URL" in Skribit:
A related gripe: when bloggers have a really interesting suggestion that I really want to read more about marked as "blogged" and I find that, they've linked to it as the genericURL.com rather than genericURL.com/specificArticle.html
Granted, this is more a pebkac than a tech issue, but perhaps some good Skribit tutorials might be a good idea?
(Problem exists between user and chair = pebkac)

users complaining about 100 char limitnoticed this suggestion on a blog when browsing around skribit (it's my favourite way to surf- I can see what sort of stuff is blogged on a blog before I get there!) and thought I'd give you guys a head's up.

What are the green bar things? So, it looks like it's replaced the how many people have voted. Still confusing. A FAQ entry might be good?
what is "posted"?
ok, and "my network"... twitter inspired?
Would be great if you guys wrote and released the docs at the same time as the code... :P (unlike the ruby function, Paul, that was doc'd but not released...)

Filter profanitiesSo, I just removed "anonymous suggestions" due to an abusive anonymous comment/suggestion. Sigh. too casual for suggestion moderation, would be nice if us common free-loaders could choose to filter profanities, etc.

click once, cool. type. click again. ARGH!So, have an idea for something I want to see @stammy blog about. Mosey over to his site and click in the text box. I has focus! I start typing my suggestion, and I see a red underline for spell check. So, I click on the text. ARGH! the box resets itself to blankness.
No biggy, I can rephrase the question (it's not like I was typing a long forum response or blog comment) but yeah.
Also happens on my site's skribit, so I think it is universal.
Bug. please fix. :)

Alison replied on March 24, 2009 07:06 to the idea "attack of the & quot ! (should be ")" in Skribit:
if you enter (from your keyboard, one key) " it shows up as "
Sorry it that wasn't clear, it's hard to do when satisfaction converts the "s over to "
*I assume. Someone could be trying to be smart and put in the & code, but judging by the blog I saw the suggestion of, I don't think they would try anything beyond hitting the " key.

attack of the & quot ! (should be ")& quot ; not showing up as " on the suggestion. This is what I saw:
Making meat appetizing to a & quot;vegetarian& quot; child.
(that's & quot ; if getsatisfaction fixes it)
Minor bug to knock off and feel productive. :)
