Alison shared an idea in Skribit on November 24, 2008 23:18:
potential issues with the "add" function.I am really excited, as a small time blogger, about the "add" function; where I can add suggestions from other people's skribit accounts to my own, to give me ideas to blog about.
Are you going to email suggesters when anyone blogs a suggestion of theirs on any blog?
* this would be great as it would boost readership, potentially, of the "leech blog".
* the skribit email would need to be clear that the suggestion was blogged elsewhere, not on the suggester's favourite blog. (can you suggest stuff "to the wind", ie no specific blog on skribit?)
* a big big issue would be spam. "Yes I blogged about this, come and buy my herbal remedies online..." (a huge reason not to email suggesters)
* However, perhaps what you suggested in one place will only be answered on another blog- I'd like to be able to read that, even if it isn't on the blog I suggested the topic on.
* I think a setting, on the skribit profile, to get emails about anyone blogging a topic, to just get emails from the relevant blog, or to not get emails would be cool.
Sorry if this has been covered already- I've been taking a break from the internet for a while.

I'm a lowercase person, I dunno about Skribit PRO versus Skribit pro. :)
Yeah, Hesadanza, that's the google thingy- once you get to the top you are more likely to be linked to, and then are more likely to get to the top...
Perhaps a "random" shuffling of suggestions could be switched on? Or as well as allowing more to be seen, adjust the settings so that you can see less as well- maybe I only want 1 or 2 (or 0) settings to show.

Alison replied on July 01, 2008 16:31 to the discussion "allow-disallow annonymous suggestions" in Skribit:
There is a setting to dis-allow anonymous comments on the skribit website. Go to skribit.com and then: "my blog" (you should be logged in first.) Under the "Profile" link, there are text boxes for the blog name and address. Under these, there is a check box for "Allow Anonymous Suggestions"
I keep mine ticked because I like getting suggestions and want to make it easy for non-skribit users to suggest stuff. However, if you like knowing who it is, then this is the check box to un-tick.

allow-disallow annonymous suggestionsI got a suggestion via Skribit on my blog. No sign in, so I don't know who it was.

I really should explore this sort of thing before spouting forth.. :) the vote to promote pattern should be interesting for skribit also. – Alison, on June 25, 2008 03:28

Right. I don't see any of those and go "oh wow, this is totally THE ONE!!" So I'll go through and say the ones I don't like and why, and the ones I do like.
1 = This is the description of the "competitive spectrum" - worth a detailed read.
Skribit is: reader to blogger: caring and collaborative. blogger to reader: collaborative blogger to blogger: more cordial. (assuming bloggers aren't readers of the other blogger's blog.)
(edited to add the point for #1- didn't get it until I read it carefully. :) )
2 = this could be cool, but could also be random. "Tadpole? Bullfrog? huh?" how does title translate to "reputation"?
3 = Numbered levels, sure. could work
4 = Identifying Labels: see 2.
5 = Points I think this could work well.
6 =The Collectible Achievements= one is a bit like the facebook widgets: "you've sent 10 X's! Send 4 more X's to unlock more X's!" I don't think this is a fit.
7 = Ranking this might work well with the skribit model.
8 = Leader Board - I don't like these because you get an elite and I'm not usually part of that. ditto 9. Besides, it's usually the same people who are always up there, never really allowing newbies to break through.
One thing to keep in mind is that skribit is for bloggers and readers. I think you should get reputation for how many suggestions you have blogged, but it shouldn't be a key part of the system. As for the reader, you might "spam" suggestions + votes not because you really care about reading about the topic, but because you want the reputation. Ditto Bloggers, actually.
Oh, and having reputation might cause a rift or eliteism between bloggers and readers. I like how they are equals at skribit. I like the egalitarianism at skribit.

to summarize, the patterns are: (just so we have the names here- check out the website for the descriptions + pretty pictures)
1 The Competitive Spectrum Pattern
2 Named Levels Pattern
3 Numbered Levels Pattern
4 Identifying Labels Pattern
5 Points Pattern
6 Collectible Achievements Pattern
7 Ranking Pattern
8 Leaderboard Pattern
9 Top X Pattern

Community "models" which for skribit?Yahoo!'s design pattern library is pretty good. especially reputation patterns http://tinyurl.com/6jlul3 which rep pttn should @skribit use?
Alison replied on June 24, 2008 13:28 to the idea "future feature: to-do list sync" in Skribit:
That's an interesting thought, if other bloggers keep todo lists. I am so busy at the moment I haven't been able to blog much, and it's nice having skribit keeping track of some topics to blog about.
I also like to keep track of other stuff too- like "Essay (due Friday)" or "get groceries" or "wash the car" it would be cool if all my to-dos (blogging etc) were in one place. I can add them manually now, and tick them off when I've blogged them, but it would be VERY groovy if skribit and the to-do list were integrated.
Of course, it is a tricky implementation, and I definitely don't expect to see it tomorrow, next week, or even this year. It just struck me as something cool, and thought I'd share. :)
