Likewise, FE is of no use for me. Fire Eagle still does not support complex privacy controls, but BrightKite does. For example, I can say that I am in 'private' mode, and that 'trusted' friends can see my full location, but Fire Eagle does not have flags like that, it only has trusted _services_, so I would have to use two different brightkite accounts, one public one that gets the 'filtered' information from Fire Eagle, and one private one that friends have access to and can see the full address (I don't think this is even possible unless I leave it in private mode all the time). There is no difference to Fire Eagle. I've blogged about it and Tom Coates is unsure if it's a good idea or not, which is silly. The ability to pass along privacy flags (in private mode or not, so 'trusted friends' features still work) would be awesome. – Thomas, on August 19, 2008 18:01

Joe, if you're talking about twitterrific, for some reason it's not posting my location to Twitter (but it can post tweets just fine). Also, you should make a separate thread for that separate issue if it does not already exist. – Thomas, on August 19, 2008 17:58

Yes Brightkite would really become cool if it read from fireeagle....or got it's own GPS based app. – jiltedcitizen, on August 18, 2008 14:13-

We are working with the FE team on a scalable way to consume their location information. It's fairly complicated for us, but we are working on it.
