Allen at ngmoco replied on December 10, 2009 18:55 to the problem "Armor, Weapon strength in Eliminate Pro "update" seems screwy!" in ngmoco:
Hi Lost,
For armors, if you click on them before purchasing and read the description, it shows what attributes are better or worse than the standard armor you start with. Basically, those are the armor's "specialization". None of the armors are really better or worse than each other, they just fit different play styles.
For example, sniper has ++cloaking and ++targeting systems. This makes the sniper outfit the armor that does the most damage. Targeting systems add a percentage boost to damage for any weapon you're firing. Cloaking blends you into the background when you're standing still. The higher your cloaking is, the less visible you are.
Since this is a live game where players are facing each other, there are constantly being adjustments made to the weapons and armor to try to balance them against each other.
Most recently in 1.1, changes were made across the board, mostly tweaks. Some major changes were introduced as well:
-Increased burst scatter chance on Plasma Cannon. This should make the PC less reliable on long distances. Close range opponents will still suffer significant damage. We'll continue to look at this one.
-Rocket Launcher damage reduced. Because it's a weapon that has potential to do damage to multiple targets, it should not be able to keep up with other weapons for the purposes of single target fighting.
-Vaporizer damage per shot was increased. Beam durations were decreased to create a more instantaneous damage effect.
Please be patient, we're going to continue to modify weapons and armor. Your feedback goes a long way in deciding how changes will be made.
We're also continuing to adjust the upgrades screen to give a better idea of actual values in the stats. We acknowledge that words like "standard" or "enhanced" do not mean much to the user.
Thanks for your post, and we hope you stick around to experience the changes we introduce and contribute in making it a more fair, balanced and fun game for everyone.

Hi guys, thank you for the reports.
We optimized some client code in 1.1 hoping to address this issue. It seems to have helped, but not completely remove the issue. We're going to dig deeper.
If it's a client issue, it'll be on the top of the list for 1.2. If it's on the back end with servers, we'll figure out how to get that resolved. In the meantime, we'd appreciate it if you individually did research on your routers to ensure it's not on your end.
Regardless, it will take lots of log checking and data gathering to really figure it out. If you can give us a helping hand and tell us time of day and where in the world you're experience these issues, we can build a better map to find the root of the problem. Also, if you're playing on 3g or wifi when it happened.
Thanks!
Allen at ngmoco replied on December 09, 2009 23:06 to the question "Trouble taunting after update" in ngmoco:
There is a 20 credit earning limit to taunting. Kevin is slightly incorrect as you can taunt one person as much as you want, but you will not exceed the limit.
From our data and feedback, taunting was drawing too much focus away from the core game experience and creating "camping spots" as users just taunted bodies repeatedly.
It was never our intention to allow users who placed lower in the ranking to earn significantly more credits than first place finishers.

Hi Kieran, does this happen still in 1.1? It should be significantly reduced if not fixed. Thanks for keeping us updated. – Allen at ngmoco, on December 09, 2009 20:10
Allen at ngmoco replied on December 09, 2009 19:51 to the question "Scam???" in ngmoco:
You should not have been billed for downloading Eliminate. Eliminate does have in-app purchases that do charge you through itunes, but you have to explicitly accept and confirm the purchase.
Since all billing is done through Apple, please contact apple support if you still believe this is in error.

Hi erfurt,
I believe this may be an issue with the ipod itself, and if so, you should contact apple tech support.
But a couple things to check. Eliminate is a battery intensive app. Are you sure the battery isn't just out of juice?
If the ipod did freeze, you can hard reset it by holding down the sleep and home button at the same time for 10-15 seconds. The device should start back up when you let go.
Hope this helps,

Hi Madi, glad you asked!
Our get satisfaction champions are usually those who follow us on twitter, participate in the gaming community forums (like touch arcade forum), read our newsletters, etc. They usually answer questions on get sat before we have a chance to respond.
Basically, they make our lives easier and help the community "catch up" on all the info. They also pass info to us they think we need to be aware of, and since they have earned our trust, we usually do listen to them.
Just keep in mind this isn't a checklist, it's more about building a relationship than doing tasks.
I'll be keeping my eye on you. =P

HI Thor, just happened when I tried to post on this thread too. (notice that I replaced the @ with at for the email).

Just providing you info, as this issue is "trivial" now that I know the work around.

Hi Daniel, email support at ngmoco.com, provide your gamername, a copy of the itunes receipt, and reference this post so we can follow up properly.
Please give us one business day to get back to you.
In the meantime, please try sitting on the get energy screen for a few minutes. Sometimes the apple servers take longer than expected to confirm the purchase, but we should continuously be checking on that screen.

Allen at ngmoco replied on December 08, 2009 18:59 to the problem "HUGE Level Differences - Ruins Gameplay" in ngmoco:
We're keeping an eye on match making and acknowledge that sometimes the matchmaking can be uneven. Since the match making emphasizes skill over level, it does vary.
For every person that reports about "getting owned" by a player 10+ levels higher, we get a report of someone enjoying their first place victory against 3 other opponents higher level then them.
We actually just sat down to discuss this yesterday, so I can assure you it's a hot topic here as well.

Allen at ngmoco posted an update in ngmoco on December 08, 2009 14:56:
Eliminate 1.1 updateHi Everyone,
It's been a busy week, and it's only Tuesday!
On Sunday, Eliminate 1.1 was released introducing new Prototype armors, Mods, and a new map, KNOX. In addition, we spent a good deal of time rebalancing all the weapon and armor in the game.
Also, we added level support from 51-100. Some of you may have noticed that you instantly jumped from level 50 to another level. That's because we kept track of energize games played since hitting the cap and we wanted to reward players for continuing to earn credits after that. So don't be surprised if you get matched up with a level 63, it's totally expected.
On Monday, we worked out the creases in the 1.1 update. Some additional weapon balancing was done. There was a jump bug that was squashed pretty quickly. We also managed to implement a fix for that taunt exploit that some users have reported.
As always, we read every post on get satisfaction though we don't always reply. We hope to encourage everyone in this community to pass on what they know, and we'll do our best to make sure that the info exists.
Please keep in mind to try searching before posting. It could very well be that your issue or topic has already been covered. Joining into an existing topic just makes it stand out more to us and allows other users to keep you informed on what they know.
Thanks for reading!

Using @ symbol not accepted in posts right now?@ symbols don't seem to be registering. When I removed them from my post, it went through. Weird, because they used to work.

Hi Omar,
Thanks for your passionate post, we're admittedly probably not making our presence known on get satisfaction as much as we'd like.
The fact is, we juggle between tons of support channels everyday. We're on twitter (ngmoco arsenalmegacorp touchpetsdogs) providing realtime support and updates. We're on email (support at ngmoco.com, support at plusplus.com) addressing user account issues, transaction problems, and solving technical issues. We're on touch arcade, broadcasting to our users and supporting the great gaming community there.
We do though, read everything here, since getsat generates an email that directly goes to everyone involved in making eliminate, touchpets and all our other great plus enabled titles. Sometimes we need more time to dig into the issue, sometimes you guys on getsat reply for us, and sometimes we know what's wrong and are waiting on the fix before getting back.
We'd also like to encourage you and everyone else to search. Often, the same issues are reported when we have already updated users on another thread. We leave it up to the community to pass along the answers and information we've already provided. We'd rather be adding new features and fixes to the games than micromanaging every thread that comes in! =)
We believe getsat is a forum for user to user communication, and we're really hoping that users who find information on twitter, ta, or were supported in email come back here to post there findings. On top of that, we'll do our best to make sure the information is at least relayed, so that you and everyone else in this great community can pass on the info.
For eliminate specifically, there have been lots of changes since 1.1
We've evaluated almost every weapon and armor in the game and have tweaked them to be more balanced against each other. "Connection to HQ" issues should be less frequent, though this will continue to be optimized based on new feedback and information we gain.
In-game drops should be less frequent as well, though since 1.1 has been out for a little more than 24 hours, we'll need some more time to say that with confidence. We'll do what we can on the backend to optimize. If issues continue, you can be sure that 1.2 will address it more definitively.
And lastly, just 5 hours ago at 1 am PDT, we pushed a fix for the taunting exploit that users have complained about and also pushed out new prototype armor contact for up to level 74.
Thanks for reading, and if you have any other questions or concerns, post away.
