This is exactly what I do as well. I will spend most of my day RDP-ing to my work laptop. It would be quite handy to be able to use RescueTime in this way. Right now it just tells me I've used MS Terminal Services a lot! – JD, on May 18, 2008 12:45

Yes - I'd really like this feature - additionally I often access one computer from the other over extended periods of time, using some remote desking software.

Would it be possible to add a feature to ignore certain apps? That way when i am access machine B from machine A i don't get two time periods being recorded for different machines.

This is a great software and my first idea what just popped up in my mind was the same: I would like to deploy this software for all the machines what I'm using for work, personal, etc. Please add machine tagging! :) It sounds easy to do! :)

Similarly, to separate usage from different users on the same computer - I use one for work and a different one for home.

I noticed there are four people in this thread asking about Google Reader, which is a separate issue from breakdowns since it uses a subdirectory instead of subdomain (which are now logged separately) so I created a new topic for it... search for "Google Reader" to find it!

also combining sites would be nice:
x.blogs.nytimes.com is the same as www.nytimes.com.
I know you can do this with tags, but it is a hassle to tag every single subdomain (unless you want to, see google).

Another example: If you use Outlook, and have MS Word as the default editor for writing messages, then it gets tracked as MS Word, which doesn't indicate at all that it has to do with email. (Not much of a problem for me, as I have very little reason to use Word in my job, but I would guess that there are lots of people that use Word quite a bit, both for word processing as well as writing email.)

Another vote here... mail.google.com is always in my top 3 apps, and includes both my work and personal email. I REALLY need to distinguish between the two for RescueTime to be useful.

I would like to be able to have multiple profiles, defining different tags. This way, I would usually have my "work" profile on my office machine and my "personal" profile on my home machine, still, when I work from home I can switch the profile.

Automated profile-switching might be useful based on time of day or present applications, though it might become tricky in case of conflicts.

This is a feature we have on the "near term" enhancement list. At the moment I can't give you an estimate on when we will have it, but it should be weeks, not months...

Agree, please, add in client application a field to specify tags that will mark all info from that computer.

indeed, I also want to be able to track my google uses seperately. Especially since Google Reader is such a time comsumer for me :)

I completely agree!! I spend a lot of time on Google Calendar and right now it's simply listed as "google.com".
