allquixotic replied on September 16, 2009 20:39 to the problem "Chromium not opening after installing Xmarks under linux (ubuntu)" in Xmarks:
Chromium 4.0.208.0 on 64-bit (yes, native 64-bit Chromium!) Fedora 12 Alpha has the following properties:
*Xmarks works _perfectly_ (well, no password sync, but bookmarks are more important for me anyway)
*Chromium build is native 64-bit
*Chromium shortcut has --enable-extensions --enable-plugins by default, so no tinkering needed
*Performance is outstanding -- flicker-free dragging scrollbar on Intel 965GM!
*Privoxy instead of Adblock Plus
*Flash and Java work perfectly
I love Chromium, I love Fedora, and I love Xmarks -- my dream come true! I am a 100% Chromium user now; goodbye slow Firefox, it was nice knowing you!
Signed,
One extremely satisfied beta tester (I'm going to blog about my experiences later)
P.S. -- My laptop's screen is 1024x768, so I notice every last pixel of vertical real estate that is wasted. If it's not already possible, it would be stellar if you guys could ask Google to add an option to auto-hide the plugins bar at the bottom. Or maybe they have or will have a plugin API call for this. It's not required, but it would be much appreciated!

My.Foxmarks.Com Appears To Be DownWhen trying to sign in to http://my.foxmarks.com, I get this error:
Is the my.foxmarks.com site down?

I guess it could also be a software defect causing my reset password links (from getsatisfaction.com, to my account email, not my Windows Live email) to error out when I click on them. It's a generic error page.
Still, I don't quite see the point of having a getsatisfaction.com account if you are letting me log in with Windows Live?

Windows Live and OpenID integration is confusingAccount association with OpenID/Live is confusing. If I understand correctly, when I associated my Windows Live ID with a new getsatisfaction.com account (while simultaneously *creating* a new getsatisfaction.com account), that means I *log in* with Windows Live, and any password that may exist for my normal getsatisfaction account is meaningless? Because if not, I'm not sure why I get an error every time I try to reset my getsatisfaction.com account password with "Forgot password" link. My live ID uses a different email than the one I registered my getsatisfaction account with, but I get emails to my registered getsatisfaction.com account... it's not too clear how the services are integrated.

Humorously, getsatisfaction.com goes the *other* way - if you type & gt ; in a question (without the spaces) it gives you a '>' sign! That would actually be cooler for Plurk than having it go the opposite way...
I'm trying to figure out how to type ' & gt ;' (without quotes/spaces) in a message on GetSatisfaction. Silly how sub-problems come up when you least expect it.
allquixotic shared an idea in Plurk on February 02, 2009 14:07:
[Feature Rq] HTML Special Characters in NicknamesI would like to be able to have HTML special characters in my nickname without having them HTML-escaped. For example, '>' becomes '>gt;' and '<' becomes '<lt;'. I know there are secure ways to allow these characters while still preventing HTML Injection and XSS (as evidenced by them being allowed in this message, while GetSatisfaction allows HTML!) I'll be happy to talk technique with the web folks at Plurk.

Sounds like a good idea! In the interim, a truly freeform location field like on Plurk is decent, since you can say "Envision, Second Life and Pasadena, Maryland". Social networks that require you to enter RL city/state/zip for location are much less tolerable. As long as you provide plenty of characters to enter in the Location field, that's good for now. Deeper SL integration would require significant coding.-
