i heard enough of this nonsense, if you guys want a music player so bad why not go for itunes, after all that one at least isn't in beta, as for songbird, it is intended for a niche market just like seemonkey, as for the browser component, i don't think you noticed but a lot of media players nowadays come with an inbuilt one, itunes with limited features, winamp, realplayer, and these are some of the most used ones too, the idea behind songbird is a great one and it could use more support from us the end users, not just criticism, the browse is a great idea, if you don't like it why don't you just go use another media player that doesn't have one inbuilt like mediamonkey and foobar. Just be patient, the memory usage will most likely go down soon, or don't you guys remember firefox two and it's memory usage compared to the present version?

like the idea, but i didn't suggest it myself because it's unlikely to ever happen, although since they are both programs based on Mozilla's XULRunner and are both media player the fusion should be a easy, there still are two different teams behind each project

it doesn't look like it requires JavaScript, it looks more like java, at least from what i know, sites usually specify if you need to turn JavaScript on by saying JavaScript not simply Java - what i want to say is, Songbird may not have a Java plugin

i dunno about the rest, but Songbird and Qtrax are two different programs, and i also think Qtrax has a clause that only allows there variation of Songbird to play the files you dl with there program, also if the transfer to the ipod is for files dl via Qtrax, don't think there license will allow it either [also if you didn't know, the "legal" files dl via Qtrax are DRM protected]

Tray alternative

iTunes and WMP like windows toolbar, yeah, i know it's nothing new and it's a little windows sided [and probably it was proposed before] but this can really be helpful [not that the tray add on isn't good, but a little control over an audio file still is necessary]

multiple players opened simultaneously, what i mean is: as long as songbird can in theory play a video in separate windows, why not re add the control's in the video screen and allow multiple windows opened, not to mention the possibility of playing music in the background [and if visualization is added for music, maybe the screens to open in new tabs with the option of making then stand alone windows]

tx for the quick reply, i already am, i used songbird before, but because of an error i lost all my bookmarks then so i decided to wait a bit longer to reinstall it, this error won't kill me for the moment and since i haven't had any other problem i won't uninstall it this time [it really deserves another chance - great program]

Tab bar problems

there is a problem with tabs, i checked the always show tab bar but if i close the program and then reopen it the tab bat is missing, so i have to open a new tab manually after which the bar only stays till i close the problem

also, if i am in the library, i can't open a new tab by pressing the tab bar.

also for the record, I'm using the latest 0.7 release.
