The best remote filesystem app there is!
ExpanDrive is fantastic. I started out using MacFusion and was content enough, but when I tried the ExpanDrive trial I bought it instantly: the usability, polish and performance are all leagues better. And let's not even mention Finder's nigh-useless builtin remote drive functionality.

In particular, three things converted me instantly from MacFusion: that mounted drives appear under Devices in Finder, that ejecting a drive from Finder is painless and reliable, and that ExpanDrive stores .DS_Cache files locally instead of cluttering up the remote drive with them - this is the best of both worlds.

Alun Bestor reported a problem in ExpanDrive on July 27, 2009 07:05:

Drives nicknamed with non-ASCII characters will not mount
Drives whose nicknames include non-ASCII characters (e.g. öäå) will not successfully mount: instead, the spinner and yellow light appear briefly in the drive manager, and then the drive reverts to the unmounted state.

When this happens, the console reports "ExpanDrive[245] Error: Invalid option: 'ascii' codec can't encode character u'\u0308' in position 13: ordinal not in range(128)" (where u0308 is the ö or umlaut-o character in this case.)

Renaming the drive to remove the extended characters makes it mount without problems, so it's not a critical bug, but a bit of a pain for non-English projects.

For what it's worth, MacFusion has very similar problems - could it be a MacFUSE issue?
