Thanks, Ryan. The sense of this is pretty different from what I had in mind, and in the spirit of beta, I will explain (it's not all that big a deal anyway). My concern here isn't "privacy," it's being able to quickly note that I am no longer at location X -- in a way that doesn't require someone to read my shout to get that.
Clicking into the preferences area and submitting a form is a little too much work for that. Plus, I suspect I'd forget to change that setting later.
(I tried converting the form POST to a GET so I could bookmark the action, but your form is a little too clever for that.)
I see you include a warning that I'm in "stealth mode" when I hide my location; that's good. I also see that this appears to hide all my shouts, not just my current location. That's useful, but for a different situation than I had in mind.

Search for a person - bug or misdocumented? The instructions for finding another Shizzow user here: http://shizzow.com/faq#faq_q_4
say: "Enter your friend's user name, full name or email address in the search box in the upper-right part of the screen, and we'll let you know if that person has signed up for Shizzow yet"
This doesn't work for me. Just now, I discovered that it *does* work if I select "people only," but not if I leave the default "people and places" selected.
I've been searching primarily on people's twitter handles. Of course I can just construct the obvious URL.

Put a "map" link at the top of the home pageJust a bit of UI feedback, take or leave. If I click on the name of someone I listen to, I see "View as List" / "View as Map" at the top of the page. But on my home page ("Shouts from People I'm Listening to"), I don't have these links. They are over to the right under "My Statistics," but I had to think a bit about that. It's below the fold on my laptop.
I don't know how useful that map will be in normal use, but it is fun to look at.

lat/long and street address duking it outI've entered a location (yes, it's my home) with an approximate address. I then attempted to edit the lat/long coordinates by dragging the pointer on the map. (Somehow, it doesn't bother me to have a pointer to the right spot, but it does bother me to blast my address out there. Obviously that issue is beyond the scope of your services.)
So, what keeps happening is, it tells me the new coordinates, says it's updating them (and I can see this in the form to the left of the map), but when I hit "Save" the lat/long goes back to the intersection I entered. (In fact, I have entered "Nearby ..." as the street address.)
For your further amusement, I thought at first that I might be able to avoid the address altogether. I put my exact address in, saved to get lat/long, then edited and cleared the street address but left the lat/long. Unfortunately this bounced the marker back to somewhere on the south waterfront.

ElsewhereSome of us are looking for a way to say "we're not here anymore." A cute, and probably easy, way to add this would be to include an "Elsewhere" place that has no address.
It sounds like I want to clock and and clock out of Shizzow, and really I don't, but...

On a related note, your place search often finds the place I'm looking for, and it offers to let me Shout from there, but it does not allow me to add it to my Favorites. It seems i have to separately add the place to your database. (I haven't tried Shouting and then seeing whether I have more options; I was in a mode of adding places I usually go to my Favorites the other day and noticed this.)
It'd be great if there were a button to let me confirm the place and edit its details to make it a first-class Shizzow location.-

Amy replied on August 19, 2008 05:13 to the idea "Special-case "home" place?" in Shizzow:
I also like the idea of being able to specify roughly where "home" is, without giving out the exact address. I like the idea of being able to see who's nearby and perhaps discover acquaintances who live in my neighborhood.
I might still want to shout from there (even if the location isn't specified at all) -- people who already know where I live will know what I mean by "home."
As others have described, I settled on using a nearby intersection for the "address" of my home.-
