Thanks everybody. This is something we're aware of and going to be improving and optimizing BumpTop over the next several builds.
By the way, when BumpTop isn't in the foreground it shouldn't really be taxing your CPU, and runs at or near 0%. If its not then its either doing a background process (ie, getting new pics for your digital picture frames). If its not, please report the problem here so we can better diagnose it.

Thanks RedIron. We're rethinking some of your support services and so we'll take this into consideration.
Btw, there's more technical detail at bumptop.com/support
That said, there are some things we definitely like about GS. Such as the conversational style and community focus versus more traditional bulletin board software. And there are some pretty established companies using GS such as Microsoft, Adobe and Twitter.
Thanks for your feedback though.

A comment on the question "OK, I have loaded it. What is the value prop?" in BumpTop:
I think Ars Technica said it best.
“Instead of dragging ambiguous little icons around on a flat, two-dimensional canvas, files and folders in BumpTop can be scaled up in size, stacked on top of each other, and pinned to 3D walls. Some of the features and effects may seem like needless flair at first, but after exploring BumpTop for a little while, the significant usability shifts that it brings to the desktop become quite intriguing.”

We turned that into an experimental BumpTop Labs folder, since it was being inconsistent. You can still enable it in the first tab of the settings. – Anand Agarawala, on April 07, 2009 22:36
