Think of it as tags, then you want to post to a certain tag. Which ever service has that tag (such as Status update) ticked, then it will post to it. – Ancyru, on September 06, 2008 15:39-
Ancyru started following the problem "Open ID and registerning on Ping" in Ping.fm.
A comment on the idea "Pikchur supported platforms" in Pikchur:
Oh is that what you mean by sync, if you look at Socialthing! they have integrated Ping.fm recently and have done it very well. As ST! already had the feature to post to Facebook, Twitter and Pownce, when the addition of Ping.fm was the fourth option if you already had Twitter selected and Ping.fm as well, it would not post to Twitter twice because they somehow managed to remove Twitter from Ping.fm's update list. Perhaps it's in Ping.fm API as you can already select which services you would like to post to. – Ancyru, on August 24, 2008 05:52

Could you explain how double posts would occur? – Ancyru, on August 24, 2008 04:40

Ancyru replied on August 24, 2008 01:43 to the question "What Pikchur feature should we push next ?" in Pikchur:
- On the actual image page, could we have a link to delete it instead of having to go to Manage Piks.
- On the image pages, could there be links to where each post is or is that too much for privacy?
- I think the Notifications page (public or private) should be merged with the Accounts page, instead Notifications should have email replies for comments etc.
- Usage of the Adjust Grammar feature like Ping.fm does it.
Next, the adjust grammar option is a slick little feature that will prepend your posts to sites like Facebook, MySpace and alike with "said:" instead of your post just saying "Your Hanging out at the mall." Checking the box will format the post to say "Your Name said: Hanging out at the mall." Also, with this option, you can put a wildcard at the beginning of your post to represent that you are posting a status update (is hanging...) to your social networks and for the ones that don't prepend your service username, we will include your Ping.fm profile name. For example: You post "% is hanging out at the mall." This would show up on Facebook like "Your Name is hanging out at the mall." and would show up on a site like Pownce or Brightkite like "Your Ping.fm Name is hanging out at the mall." It prevents your updates from not making any sense and is just better all around. It's optional too, so if you like nonsense, you can leave it off!
- I've input a username for my display name since it effects my posting email. Perhaps we could have them separate since I would like to attach my full name to images but not effect my posting email.
- Finally, more services to add to.
That should be all from me for now. :D
Ancyru replied on August 22, 2008 06:52 to the question "I am not clear about the distinction between 'Status Updates', 'Blogging' and 'Micro-blogging'." in Ping.fm:
That's most likely Status update.
The options are there for when you select them as you're configuring your services. Say for Twitter if you select Status update and Micro-blogs and for Facebook you only selected Micro-blogs.
Then if you went to ping your Micro-blog, Twitter AND Facebook would update. But if you were to ping your Status update, only Twitter would receive the update.
It just helps to categorise your options, the alternative is to use an actual trigger in your ping to post to each service individually (@tt Post to Twitter only).

Ancyru reported a problem in Ping.fm on August 22, 2008 04:30:
Image Upload (Email)For some odd reason I am unable to email in images for upload any more (it's only worked a handful of times). Whenever I send in the email, all it posts is the caption minus the Ping.fm image link.
Any workarounds available? I'd love to get my images up as it happens.

The thing is, you don't end up with a double post. If you have Ping.fm selected you would see all the services lined up underneath to be sent to. Now if you have Twitter selected as well as Ping.fm, you will notice that Twitter is removed from the services lined up.
It's already smart enough, there is no double posting. – Ancyru, on August 21, 2008 11:11
