Dré replied on December 03, 2009 07:58 to the question "Problems with different browsers" in Yola:
Hi Guido,
You're so right! This is a problem we're always facing. Different browsers interpreting the same thing differently!
While at this moment, I don't have an solution for the behavior in IE- I want to quickly point out that this is why only the latest versions of Firefox, Safari, or Internet Explorer are Yola-supported browsers. Of the three, we always recommend Firefox as the most accurate and stable browser.
For example, Google Chrome is not yet a Yola-supported browser and there are a number of known issues including problems using the text widget.
A comment on the question "Why can't I resize thumbnails?" in Yola:
Hi Stephanie,
We really do hear your frustration!
Yola (especially within the support team) is always trying to keep an ear to the ground and pick up what our users are needing and wanting.
Needs are always growing and changing, so while I can assure you I will bring your request to attention of our engineers, I can't promise right now that there will be immediate action on this specific issue.
I have also replied to your email to support. We do welcome this feedback. – Dré, on November 26, 2009 08:28
A comment on the question "LARGE White Box in Picnik" in Yola:
Hi Mike,
Sorry to see you're frustrated!
Photoshop often saves images to have a CMYK color mode attached to them - which is not web friendly. You should be able to set your color mode to RGB-16bit and you will then be able to upload them.
An easy way to do this is instead of just selecting "save", choose "save for web" in Photoshop. The image will then be automatically saved in the correct format.
You probably know this already but I thought I'd throw it out there just in case. – Dré, on November 26, 2009 07:18
Dré set one of Dré's replies as an official response to "Document Formating?" in Yola
Dré replied on November 26, 2009 07:10 to the question "Document Formating?" in Yola:
Hi,
I need to advise you that when you copy and paste rich text directly from MS Word (or another word processor) onto your site, this brings along a whole lot of unwanted formatting that is not web friendly and can easily break your page. It can also cause your site to show up inconsistently in different browsers. The problem might not always show up immediately, but sometimes it happens after you save and navigate to a different page or log out and log in again.
To avoid display and loading issues, the best alternative is first to paste your text into NotePad (in the accessories folder of your computer) and then paste it as plain text onto your Yola page. You can then use the Yola text editor to format your text as desired.
***Please note that this would be the case with any browser-based text editor you might use, not just Yola. It is a universal website building problem.***
It's also always a good idea to keep a copy of your text in a .txt file from Notepad so that you have a backup copy kept on your PC.
The solution in this case - you can delete the page or delete the existing text and then re-add it to your page following the steps above.
You can also use this Text Editor to format and spell check your text and strip out MS Word code. It will generate valid markup which you can safely paste into the Yola site builder.
If this doesn't solve the problem, please let me know.

A comment on the question "Is php support and ftp access on its way to yola-ville?" in Yola:
Hi Dinoraptor101,
As another Yola employee throwing their bit into this thread. I just want to say that we totally understand your points on offering FTP functionality, in fact, we probably agree with you wholeheartedly.
At the end of the day, the Yola site builder as it exists now is not the same one we started with. We are always looking to evolve and add to the site builder as our users tell us of their needs and as technology allows us to provide more.
With regards to FTP, I really think it has less to do with us worrying about losing advertising and a lot more to do with having a very long list of user needs that we want to meet, and only so many hours in a day for our engineers to work on those needs. Again, although it might not be at the top of the list, FTP is on it :)
Have a great day! – Dré, on November 24, 2009 13:28
Dré replied on November 24, 2009 08:47 to the question "Can Yola Support 123FlashChat???" in Yola:
Hi,
From what I can see 123FlashChat looks like a great product but it needs to be integrated with databases and other server-side features which are currently not available within the Yola site builder. Some of these features are not available for security reasons, while others are being looked as possible future features.
There are other tools that you can make use of such as the Meebo chat room widget that does integrate directly with the Yola site builder. I'm not sure if this would provide a suitable alternative for you, but if you're interested, here's how:
You can add a Meebo Chatroom by using the Meebo widget which is located in the Widgets folder on the right-hand sidebar. This is how:
1. Drag and drop the Meebo widget onto your page.
2. A dialogue box will open where you can edit the settings of your Meebo widget.
3. Click on "OK" to add the chatroom to your page.
4. You can edit any settings by clicking on 'Edit' on the top left of the green widget toolbar.
Please note: the connection on the Meebo chatroom does not work in certain areas where ISP caching is used. Unfortunately, this is something out of our control.

Hi Felipe,
I have visited your site and I can see all four messages load in the jukebox player. So it seems to have worked.
I'm wondering if your browser is just bringing up temporary files that it has stored without actually loading the whole page again. Could you clear you cache and let me know if the problem persists?

A comment on the question "How do I post my website on the internet?" in Yola:
Hi Ojay,
Are you perhaps trying out a premium style that you haven't purchased yet?
If so, you need to either purchase the style or change back to a free one before you will be able to publish your site. (If this is not the case, please let us know)
To change the style:
1. Click on the "Change Style" button on the top toolbar.
2. A dialog box will open with the variety of styles you can choose from. (The "Basic Styles" are all free, but the "Premium" ones have to be purchased)
3. Browse through and click on them to preview in the right hand pane of the dialog box.
4. When you've decided on the one you would like to use, make sure you have clicked on it.
5. Click on "OK" on the bottom right of the box.
6. The new style will load onto your site.
Alternatively, hit the "Update my Site" button and then follow the prompts to purchase the premium style you are currently using.
Hope this helps! – Dré, on November 23, 2009 10:18

Dré replied on November 20, 2009 14:48 to the question "How To Setting Up Business Directory" in Yola:
Hi Augustine,
At the moment Yola does not offer any database or membership login integration with our site builder. If you consider yourself a novice in IT related matters, then you'll probably find this a good thing. It can be very tricky setting something like that up.
I would recommend doing what some of our users have already done in similar situations- Creating a site with different categories, and then links to the individual businesses in that category.
You can either add each business category as a page or as a subpage. Check out this tutorial on Creating Subpages.
Once you have your category pages setup it is very easy to add the links and info to the individual businesses in that category- Creating Links and Adding Text are great tutorials you should take a look at.
Hope this helps!
A comment on the question "Help me choose Yola vs Weebly,Webnode etc!!" in Yola:
Hi tanz808,
SEO means a lot to us at Yola as we fully understand how vital that is to the success of our user's websites. Bearing that in mind, we design all our styles to meet current web standards as well as being completely search engine friendly.
The speed at which your site will be indexed lies with the search engine. Sometimes Google will index your site within two week, other times it takes a couple of months.
But by making use of Yola's site builder and styles, you're definitely off to a great start. We have a series of short SEO Tutorials which will bring you through the various aspects of planning, building and promoting your site with SEO in mind. UK Duke has posted the link above.

Dré replied on November 19, 2009 05:33 to the problem "Snail speed for mysite while loading to Edit.." in Yola:
Hi Dustin,
I've spent quite a bit of time on your site and it would seem the problem is quite a simple one.
Basically, some widgets (like a text widget) don't have to go find information on the internet as the site loads in order for them to work- others do (like mp3 players that need to reference a URL and then draw that mp3 information into the site so that it's ready to play.)
There are quite a lot of these on one page and it would seem like it's far to much for the browser/internet connection/etc to load all of these mp3 players and then add more on top of it. For instance, it seems, that when a user opens the "KLMNO" page, the page has to upload an enormous 32MB of data just to load. That's a lot.
I would suggest using links to the audio files instead of mp3 players, if you need to have multiple songs listed on one page. Randy's method on the previous thread we spoke on is a really good one and I'm sure he would be willing to share information with you... Adding Music with Synthasite
A comment on the question "Adding Music with SynthaSite" in Yola:
Hi Dustin,
I have replied to you on the initial thread that your conversation is taking place on asking you for URL of the specific site that you're having problems with.
Also just note that what Randy's doing seems a bit different from what you're wanting to do. If you go to Randy's site you'll see that all he has done is created links to the individual files. When one of those links is clicked on, depending on which one you use, your browser realizes that the link is an audio file and only then does a new browser page open where you can play that file.
That is virtually no burden at all on the website, the browser, or Randy's internet connection. However, these are things that need to be taken into account for your website, as you are wanting multiple MP3 playing widgets to load with your site (as far I have have been able to pick up from the thread).
While writing this I see you have responded on the other thread. I will feedback to you there once I have some sort of an answer for you.
Don't worry, we'll get to the bottom of it one way or another! – Dré, on November 18, 2009 07:51

Hi Dustin,
Apologies for the frustration you're feeling. We are definitely looking into your problem!
Sometimes, finding the solution is not always immediate. For instance, it seems that your problem is specific to your site, which means that it needs a specific solution :)
Could you give me the URL of the actual site that you are having problems with?
We'd love to get to the bottom of this! – Dré, on November 18, 2009 07:28
