I am having that same problem. I have an all Mac network, Airport Extreme (n) Mac Pro, Mac Air, and a Powerbook. My wireless network is always 3 to 4 bars but occationally I effectively look all connectivity. Its not an issue with my cable provider because the local network is dead ... so it MUST be an issue with the wireless. When the error occurs the light on the Airport is green and all lights on the Cable modem are as they should be.
I can only guess that this is a software issue since it occurs on radically different hardware (MacPro, MacbookAir, and Powerbook). I seem to see the issue more since the latest Security Update ... but I can't confirm this.
I'll also try the suggestion to drop the config and recreate it and see if it helps. It just seems odd that its so pervasive. Granted, I keep all our home machines current with new code updates so perhaps that is the cause.-

From browsing the web, I understand this depends on the adsl router and encryption modes: I am using the Zyxel P660 HW D1 and WPA-PSK. Connection shows full power but is so slow that youtube just times out. Google on safari loads however. Speedtest have taken longer than 2mins (I gave up after that). Feels roughly like a web connection from, say 1991...-

Apple once took away the floppy disk drive, which many people thought was outrageous. Turns out, no one missed it after all. Apple was ahead of the curve. I, myself, was puzzled about Apple's decision with that one. I was wrong. I don't even own a single floppy disk anymore (not even for nostalgic reasons). (Dell finally followed their lead five years later.)
But with Bluetooth, I am not as puzzled. If I want to, for example, share a picture, I just e-mail it from my iPhone. I guess I have already moved past Bluetooth. I have a Bluetooth dongle I haven't used in ages, and I definitely don't miss it. I guess it would be nice for some people to use it for particular devices and headsets. But, not me. I just use the headphone mic they gave me with the iPhone. Works great, and I don't look like a Borg member walking around with a piece of futuristic-looking plastic sticking out of one of my ears.
If you're not a long-time Apple user, thinking like I do takes some getting used to ("use what they gave you"). I think that the best thing to say is that if Bluetooth is a deal-breaker -- or a higher MP camera, or video -- then the iPhone is probably not for you.

I can understand why many are frustrated by the limited BT functions/services that are supported (I am one of those frustrated) however to be furious? Since the release of iPhone 3G it has been voiced in many forums and in journalist reviews to the limited BT support. Also Apple do not promote that BT is for anything more than headset. I too am hoping this will change very soon, and we will be able to use more services, but as it stands we are well informed from the iPhone community and can made educated purchasing decisions accordingly. – MDNZ, on August 18, 2008 05:43
