Facebook notifications aren't working.

I have had this issue for quite a while now, about a month or so. Whenever someone writes on my wall or interacts with me in any way, there is no notification at the bottom right of the page. I have heard that a lot of people have been having this problem. However, I do get notifications whenever someone takes a quiz, etc, which is extremely annoying.

A few days ago, I looked around my area (Sugar Land, TX, near Houston) in Street View just for fun, and I noticed that the images were sorely outdated. I know that Google will update the service, but I'm wondering how long it will take. I love Street View, but the images are pretty outdated and I'm a little bit OCD :P
