A comment on the idea "User-defined source publications" in Pubfeed:
Wow, thats an interesting service. It shouldn't be too hard to import the results after they are calculated. I don't think I could automate the searching though since the results take so long to return.
I was thinking of adding Pubmed as an additional search option too. Between eTBLAST and Pubmed, which do you think would be more useful? – Andrew Trusty, on June 26, 2009 01:10

From the database it looks like it took exactly 1 minute for the first few related papers to be fetched and an hour for all of them to be fetched (because there were so many source papers and since the Google Scholar blocking I've had to slow down the speed of Google Scholar queries).
The web interface should have stopped saying "Populating..." sometime in the first few minutes though.

You're right, it should but it seems that GetSatisfaction doesn't let me place the link very prominently. I just put a link in the Important message notification above and on the about page
I think I'd have more control over the content here if I paid for one of the upgraded plans but I guess that's just the hidden cost of it being free.
Andrew Trusty replied on June 19, 2009 14:33 to the problem "RSS" in Pubfeed:
Hmm, so some of the papers Pubfeed picks up don't have links because Google Scholar provides publications results that aren't linked sometimes (see first 2 results at http://bit.ly/RFTzt ). The default feed link thus pointed back to Pubfeed in these cases but you're right that that doesn't make sense so I've changed the link to point to the Google Scholar search result page instead.

How many favorites are you selecting for a single feed? The more you select, the longer the feed will take to populate.
And can you give me an example list of which papers you are using as favorites and failing with? I haven't seen this effect with the last two feeds created on the site, which used Google Scholar.
Andrew Trusty replied on June 04, 2009 21:58 to the idea "User-defined source publications" in Pubfeed:
Currently, I don't plan to support user inputted papers because if the search doesn't find a paper then the feed will be empty.
That said, I have set Google Scholar as the default search source. Previously, it was DBLP which is a Computer Science specific database. So you should get better search results for feeds you create now.
