Allow multiple addon repository providers to be addedPresently, when searching for addons and such, Songbird only shows addons available from the official addons.songbirdnest.com page only.
Pioneers of the Inevitable should provide a way for manufacturers such as Sansa to start their own repository which users can easily supplement the official one with, and properly integrate it into Songbird. And third party developers should be able to host their own too (certain codec's aren't covered by patents in some countries for instance, so developers in such countries may like a good way to offer those addons, where they are legal).
Another huge advantage of this, is that Pioneers of The Inevitable could keep their official plugins (ones designed by the Songbird team), in a separate addons page to community ones.

Actively support portable songbird to sell installed on portable media playersPortable music is becoming a bigger and bigger part of peoples lives, and people like to carry their collection around with them.
I propose Songbird modifies and endorses the portable copy of Songbird, and works with manufacturers to include it with some portable music player. Songbird should be modified to share the same library as the media device, so that whatever music the portable media player sees, is synchronised with the copy of songbird included on the device at all times.
Furthermore, users should be able to plug the device in any other computer and access songbird, and their media library from the device.

G'day,
By the way, it might be best to refer to:

It seems they are interested in the Zen plus (but don't have one inhouse to test with yet).

G'day, Songbird 1.4.0 adds significant improvements to MTP support, it may be worth giving the beta a go (its available from http://wiki.songbirdnest.com/Develope... ).
Hopefully, it should work (I think MTP support currently needs windows though).

G'day, Songbird 0.7 is ancient.. Just wondering which version you are using.
The developers have added significant improvements to MSC/MTP support in Songbird 1.4.0 (which is being hopefully released soon) – Andrew Luecke, on October 29, 2009 15:54
Andrew Luecke shared an idea in Songbird on October 29, 2009 15:50:
Songbird should actively search for missing codecs during importsAdding support for new audio/video formats is a two part problem. One component is solved, the other isn't.
1) The first part (which has been solved), is a means of installing new codecs. Songbird makes this possible through its addon system (so anyone is capable of compiling a codec, and turning it into an addon).
2) But the second part, is knowing which codec to use, and being aware one is available which adds additional file support. This is the main problem! Users shouldn't know what codec they need for bomb.ogv (ogg video), or x.ape (Monkey Audio). So I propose, when importing files Songbird is unable to play, it automatically checks online for addons which add support for that file type, and offers them to the user.
I have posted an example picture. This simply makes Songbird MUCH more usable by everyone (Yes, its a quick mockup, so I know there is a lot wrong with it).

Andrew Luecke replied on October 28, 2009 06:12 to the question "ASIO plug in needed" in Songbird:
@Usernaim. Whilst one can't be sure if the phenomenon exists or not by being aware of what they are listening to, Blind testing accurately determines if a difference can be heard and identify. If one doesn't hear a distinct difference in a blind test, it doesn't mean one doesn't exist, however, it does mean it isn't noticeable enough to change the experience.
Also, never said I couldn't hear a difference between ASIO actually, because I never said I did a blind test for ASIO (I've only ever properly tested WASAPI, where the experience was worse especially during song changeovers).
I do agree professionals can tweak by ear (a friend of mine who sets up audio equipment for gigs can do that), however, there are also an equal amount of people who think they can but are woefully off (try passing a guitar around the room, and people will tweak it to death).
Really, for me its a curiosity thing. I like results I can trust. Whilst quick testing is highly vulnerable to factors that may compromise the results, blind testing is more accurate, and more likely to provide realistic results.

Might be helpful if there was an exact error message.
There is more info in:

You may also wish to try using a different browser, in case the cache is corrupt in firefox..
Let me know how it turns out
Andrew Luecke replied on October 28, 2009 05:34 to the idea "Zune Support with songbird?" in Songbird:
@atonak, I find it kind of odd actually that you are ignoring that the iPod's can't be legally connected to by other programs, and is limited in mostly the same way as the Zune (if not more, because you must break laws to connect them to other programs). I'm not saying either company is a "good example" in this case, and not sure what you mean by DRM (I thought the only DRM happening was DRM support in music, but the protocol isn't really protected).
You may not like DRM, however, you are not being forced to buy a player which allows its use.
Either way, I'd like to see more open devices supported first, but if time remains, I don't see any problem with adding Zune or iPod support personally
