Hey Jim -
Head on over to http://www.thepoint.com/mygroupons - you should be able to reprint from there!

Hey Selena,
Try going to http://www.thepoint.com/mygroupons and login with your email address and password (or Facebook account). Your Groupon should be there. If you're still having trouble, call me - 773 865 8653.

Hey Donna, sorry you missed it!
We'll definitely offer another Rooftop Groupon... but they'll probably sell out just as fast. If you are a Twitter-er, follow us - we always give people a heads up when we're running something the next day that can sell out.

Hey Dave -
Very sorry to offend - we think animal testing is awful too... I guess we were hoping that the absurdity of the overall presentation would punctuate the absurdity of the specific premise you mentioned.
I think the post makes animal testing look bad, not good - I'm a vegetarian, the last thing I'd want to do is help put more monkeys in labs! :-)
Thanks for the feedback,
Andrew

Andrew Mason replied on March 30, 2009 19:24 to the question "Response to Andrew--lobster fest" in Groupon:
Hi Erin,
I totally see where you're coming from. I guess it's because I didn't hear anyone raise this as an exceptionally abusive practice, in the way someone might if we were running a foie gras Groupon or something like that.
But it's good to know that there are people out there who feel this way - thank you very much for the feedback, we'll certainly try our best to push the needle in the right direction in terms of making the world a better place.
By the way - Groupon grew out of The Point (www.thepoint.com) - a site we built for the express purpose of making the world better.
Andrew Mason replied on March 30, 2009 16:59 to the question "Live animals?" in Groupon:
Hey Erin,
I'm with you on this one (I'm a vegetarian). But keep in mind that all the lobsters all have traveling buddies, AND a miniature American flag to play with.
As a vegetarian, I personally try not to do anything more harmful to animals than a stiff reprimand ("bad, Mittens, bad!"). So as a company, we try and go with whatever society at large has determined to be an acceptable level of abuse - and sending live lobsters in the mail falls on the "acceptable" side of the line, for whatever reason.
But your point is definitely taken - you won't see any "live dolphins shipped to your door" Groupons - at least not unless they evolve into vicious predators and it becomes an "us vs. them" situation.

I'm sorry about the emoticons... here's what's up with them:
When you get started working in the tech / social media world, you quickly realize that people communicate heavily using emoticons. You adapt out of respect, in the same way you say "Aloha" and "Mahalo" when you visit Hawaii. Then one morning, you wake up and realize you've changed - that you don't know how to communicate without them. You've become "one of them." You look in the mirror, and don't recognize the face.
What should I do? How can I redeem myself?

Hey Jake... very sorry, we certainly didn't mean to offend... It was a stupid joke that slipped through editing :( We don't know anything about the World Wars, and will make sure we stay away from dumb jokes about things we know nothing about... we love France and the French, I think it was a bad attempt at being ironic.
Sorry again!

Hey Kristy!
There sure are career opportunities... to learn more about them, you would have to take a look at the "Jobs" page I've been meaning to write for the last 2 weeks. :)
Of course, it all depends on what you do... we're not looking for firefighters right now, for example. But we can always use sales people and freelance writers.
Send your resume to jobs@thepoint.com
Thanks for the interest!
