Andy replied on February 05, 2009 09:18 to the question "Trouble posting to Blogspot and getting to settings" in Sleepydog:
Wouterblok sent us his credentials and they work fine in the current development build of LifeCast with no crashing. If anyone else would like to email their credentials to lifecast@sleepydog.net then we can be sure that the issue has been addressed in the next release.

Andy replied on February 02, 2009 15:41 to the question "Make the link to LifeCase optional" in Sleepydog:
Thanks for your question.
We do indeed have a geo-location aware mashup site in the works that will show all posts made with LifeCast, and their whereabouts (obviously, so long as you opt-in to this).
At this moment in time we don't provide a way to turn off the LifeCast link in the post because it's the only bit of advertising we get for providing you with our application free of charge. This isn't even paying advertising - it's just a way for us to get the message out about LifeCast and get more people using it. At some point in the future we may offer a paid-for version of the application which will allow you to remove this link.
Andy replied on February 02, 2009 09:17 to the question "LifeCast needs a User's Manual" in Sleepydog:
My top tip is this: please make sure you're running the very latest version of LifeCast, as we're continually improving it and - yes - fixing bugs too ! Your iPhone should prompt you with a little icon on the App Store icon where there are new application updates available - but I've found it's not always accurate, so it's worth opening AppStore from time to time and tapping the 'updates' tab at the bottom right. If LifeCast appears in the list, just tap 'update' to install the latest version.
You should certainly be able to post photos and text to Blogger without having to set up a Picasaweb blog too.
We did have some introductory tutorial pages on our website, but they seem to have gone by the wayside. I'll dig around and see if I can't get them loaded back up. They give new users a 'what's what' guide to the application.
Andy replied on January 29, 2009 14:16 to the question "Trouble posting to Blogspot and getting to settings" in Sleepydog:
If either of you (or anyone else with this problem) would be willing to email your blogger account credentials to lifecast@sleepydog.net then it would be a real help for us in tracking down the cause of this problem.
Obviously, your account details will be treated with the strictest of confidence - we just need to diagnose the response that we're getting from Blogger and try to isolate the problem that's causing the crashes - we won't actually 'log into' your blog at any point, or attempt to post or edit posts, etc.
Many thanks.
Andy replied on January 28, 2009 17:59 to the question "Trouble posting to Blogspot and getting to settings" in Sleepydog:
Can you tell me exactly how far you get when the application crashes ? Do you get as far as the config screen ? As far as selecting a blog ? as far as entering your credentials ?
Is there anything particularly unusual about your Blogger setup ? Does your username password contain strange characters ? (although this should be handled file).
The more information you can give us, the more likely it is we'll be able to pin down what the problem is.
thanks
Andy replied on January 26, 2009 13:34 to the question "Lifecast Lite vs.Google Blogger: Problem resizing pictures when uploading!" in Sleepydog:
Is there a reason you've stuck with 2.1 ? You can update the firmware on your Touch by plugging it into your computer and using iTunes to download and update the firmware. Then you'll be able to use the latest version of LifeCast, which has a picture size option in it.
We don't currently support mixed text and photo posts though - this is something we're considering for a future version of LifeCast.
Andy replied on January 16, 2009 09:00 to the question "Why won't Picasa email my photos?" in Sleepydog:
I'm sorry, but this is a support group for the LifeCast iPhone application, not Google Picasa. Please post your Picasa-specific questions here:

Thanks

Andy replied on January 12, 2009 09:02 to the question "multiple movable type blogs on the same host" in Sleepydog:
It's also worth mentioning that each LifeCast can be configured with one blog only at the moment - to talk to two different blogs you'll need to create two separate LifeCasts. Multiple blogs per LifeCast is something we have considered and may introduce in the future.
Likewise, there is currently no support for tagging and categories in LifeCast - again, this is something we have considered and may add - although our ability to do so depends on the APIs of the various blogs, so support for this may never be universal.
As for documentation and support: this is the best place to get support. We don't have any detailed documentation, if there's anything in particular you're stuck with please post a question here.
Andy replied on January 02, 2009 09:20 to the problem "Lifecast is Dead" in Sleepydog:
What version of LifeCast are you using ? Please update to the latest (1.3, 1.3.1 soon). You could also try re-authenticating your blog setup - this has significantly changed in recent versions of LifeCast, as everything now passes through our Reblogr service, which will allow us to spot and fix any error more easily.
Andy replied on January 02, 2009 09:12 to the question "How do I save an image from LifeCast Lite?" in Sleepydog:
Lifecast (lite) should save all images you to to your camera roll, accessed via your iPhone photos application. This was a relatively new feature however, so depending on the version you are running this might not have be happening for you.
Retrieval of your images by digging through the backups isn't supported by us - but if you want to try anyway, LifeCast saves images in numerically ascending order, within a folder for each LifeCast you have. So your first LifeCast data is in a folder called '1', and the photos you take are called '1.png', '2.png' etc. Thumbnails are also created, called '1_t.png', '2_t.png', etc.
Quite how this is saved into the .mdbackup files on your computer, I don't know. Apple doesn't provide developers with any information about the on-desktop backups that iTunes makes.
Andy replied on January 02, 2009 09:03 to the problem "Lifecast is Dead" in Sleepydog:
Thanks for the report. When did this problem occur ? What blog have you configured ?
We were investigating similar problem with Wordpress this week, and were unable to find a fault in our software. We concluded that it was most likely a temporary problem with Wordpress itself, or scheduled maintenance downtime at their end.
We're aware of the misleading error message, and this will be fixed in a 1.3.1 update that should be available shortly.
Andy replied on December 09, 2008 09:05 to the update "LifeCast 1.3 in Beta" in Sleepydog:
Can you please state the exact nature of the problem you're having - are you able to set up the blog OK ? Do you get problems at that stage, on do the problems happen when you try to post ? Do you not see the post action button, or do you get an error message when posting ? Is it just images you have problems with, or text too ?
The more information you can give us the more likely we are going to be able to find and fix the problem.

Andy replied on December 02, 2008 15:29 to the question "App immediately closes???? Does not load!!" in Sleepydog:
Which version of the application are you using - 1.2 ?
The best thing you can try is to restore from a recent backup. Note that you will loose anything you've created since that date though. The instructions for restoring from a backup are here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Could you please follow the instructions on this website to find the crash logs for LifeCast:
http://www.ispeeddial.com/how-to-find...
and email them to lifecast@sleepydog.net. That would help in understanding what your problem might be, but we probably won't be able to tell for sure unless you're able to send us the extract of the data files, as I mentioned in my first reply.
Thanks
Andy
Andy replied on December 02, 2008 14:09 to the question "App immediately closes???? Does not load!!" in Sleepydog:
Hi. Can you try turning off and on again your iPhone (or iPod touch), and see if the problem recurs ? Do you experience this kind of problem with other applications ?
You posts should be safe - at the very least iTunes backs up your device when you sync it, so you should at least be able to restore back to the time you last synced.
If you continue to have a problem, can you please extract your backup and send it to us ?
To do this, download this application : http://supercrazyawesome.com/ for Mac, or this one : http://www.lothianproductions.co.uk/i... for PC (you will have to be pretty technical to use the PC one, unfortunately). Extract the contents of the LifeCast app, and send them to us by email to lifecast@sleepydog.net
NB: this will send us all your LifeCast data, so you might not want to do this if it contains personal information!
Hope this helps
Andy
Andy replied on November 24, 2008 09:32 to the question "Increase thumbnail image size on Blogger?" in Sleepydog:
The issue is that Picasaweb limits direct linking to images that are served to a non-Google domain, restricting them to images of a certain size or smaller. ie. you might have registered www.mybog.com and point that to your blogger blog; picasaweb seem the image requests as originating from myblog.com, and doesn't realise it's actually a blogger blog.
In other words, if you have a custom domain for your Blogger blog, you can't directly imbed a full-sized image from Picasaweb (even though Picasaweb is the official way to embed images in a blogger blog); to get around this, we embed the thumbnail in the post instead, and link through to the full size image.
Unfortunately, we have to set this limitation for all Blogger users, whether you have a custom domain name or not. This is because we have no way of telling from your login details if your blogger web site has a custom domain or not.
Previous versions of LifeCast did post the full size image to your Blogger blog, but for people with a custom domain that just didn't work at all. For posting full-sized images directly to a blog page then really we recommend you set up a Tumblr or Wordpress blog, as these don't suffer the same limitations as Blogger.
