BudURL IntegrationIntegration with BudURL as a link shortener with statistics.

Andy replied on April 20, 2009 13:58 to the question "Does a budurl pass on my affiliate link for credit by the merchant?" in Live Oak 360:
Dennis, if the redirect includes your affiliate information, it will be passed upon click-thru. If you need to append information after your custom BudURL (ie, http://budurl.com/affiliate?id=123) then BudURL will not work in that capacity. As long as you're using a standard BudURL redirect, all will be fine.
Enjoy!!

You cannot currently "pull" a BudURL into your account, but if you can tell me the alias, I'd be happy to move it there manually. Please email the full BudURL link to support@budurl.com and we'll move it over.
Thanks!

Andy replied on December 03, 2008 17:29 to the question "click stats inaccurate?" in Live Oak 360:
Hi, Damon.
We checked the database and you are correct. The referrer is only showing on two of those clicks. The referrer is not available for some clicks depending on the source. If it is available in the http request, we pick it up and log it. Otherwise, it is null.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks!
Andy

Can you tell me the budurl alias? ie, budurl.com/1234 then 1234 is the alias. If you'd rather it not be public, just email to support@budurl.com.
Thanks!

Pete,
Thanks for the time in sharing your feedback on our pricing model. Based on feedback we have received from you and others, we believe we have the right mix. We will have pricing options for free, $4/mo, and $12/mo. Every new account holder will get 21 days of free premium service to evaluate the whole enchilada. Hopefully these plans will better suite our target audience.
Yes, there are other services out there (such as Tweetburner) that help provide visibility to Twitter, etc., but we honestly aren't targeting just Twitter users. There are hundreds of other places to put URLs that you want to track. Social networks are just the tip of the iceberg. The new features that we release between now and the first dollar collected with hopefully not only justify our pricing model, but clearly showcase the power available with BudURL.
Thanks again!!
Andy

Andy asked a question in Live Oak 360 on October 08, 2008 19:27:
Who is the referring domain in my stats?Who is the referrer when I create a budurl that links to another site from my site? Does it show up as budurl or as my domain?

Donald,
Thank you again for the feedback and clarification. I'm glad you're enjoying the service and appreciate the recommendations. My commitment to you and to everyone using BudURL is that we will make sure you get your money's worth from the service. Pricing is always a tricky challenge and one that we're trying to solve. At the end of the day it's all about balance: fair investment vs. solid return. Hopefully we'll find the right target, but everyone's comments and contributions is helping us find that balance.
Thank You!
Andy

Hi, Eric! Thanks for the feedback! I should have clarified that everyone that signs up will get at least 21 days of fully free service to make sure they have a chance to kick all the tires before we ask them to pony up and pay.
We are also working on an option for those folks who want the organizational abilities of BudURL without the detailed stats. I don't know how soon option this will be ready, but it is on our mind.
Keep the feedback coming!

Hi, Donald.
I sincerely appreciate your feedback on our upcoming pricing model. We have done a lot of thinking on the topic both before and since our email yesterday. Here are a few of our thoughts. I certainly welcome your feedback.
1. Yes, you can purchase hosting for less than this amount, but you can also pay a lot more. Comparing BudURL to hosting isn't really apples to apples. The people who will gain the most value out of BudURL are likely paying more than this for their hosting. BudURL won't deliver this kind of value to everyone, but those who do see the value, we believe, will see our pricing options as a good investment.
2. We have yet to find a service that gives you the insight into your click traffic that BudURL offers. There are a lot of similar services that give you click counts, but the data behind the clicks is tremendous and we have a lot of intelligence to share in this area. We are capturing a lot more behind the scenes than what we are able to show at this point. As this data becomes visible to everyone, I believe you'll see a tremendous value in BudURL.
3. We are working on plan options for all types of users from individual to small business and agency/enterprise clients. Finding a balance in this realm is challenging, but possible.
4. Ad-based models are risky. As a business owner, I'd rather pay a flat rate for a service and know that it would be stable, maintained, and evolving rather than get something for free with the hope that I click on enough ads to keep the service running.
We will not start charging until we feel that there is enough value to justify our asking price. If you can find a service that delivers the same information with the same ease of use, please let me know. If you can find this service by the time we start charging, I'll give you BudURL free for a year. :-)
Thanks again for your feedback!
Andy
