Creating shortened links in messagesI receive tweets with very short links to web sites. I know Twitter will shorten my link if I post one that is over 30 characters. Does anyone know if I can create these shortened links for myself? (This would allow me to use my character allocation for message rather than link)-

It may be that you have reached your limit of follows. Twitter has a formula for allocating how many people you can follow. If your ratio of follows to followers is out of balance, there are certain thresholds that Twitter will not let you go beyond. The first of these is 2000 follows.
