I agree. In addition, I would prefer that people who do not directly communicate with new followers send an auto reply through Direct Message instead of a regular Tweet.

If thanking them through regular Tweets it would be better to start a conversation with them.

Having this problem since changing my Twitter user name. It's a big problem because I'm in a totally different time zone than most of my followers and my time line is only for one hour. Even Twittering through Socialthing the time line is 7 hours - I still miss all replies before that.

People get irritated when you don't respond to them. This sort of misses the point of Twitter as a communication tool...

Please help restore my replies function, Twitter!

I also have this problem, but in my case, this problem started after I changed Twitter user names. My Twitter app in Facebook allows access to my Twitter updates.

Hi - my new Twitter user name is AngelWickenberg. My old Twitter username is EbizMom. I created a new account with EbizMom so that I wouldn't lose the name in case I wanted to change back to it.

Also, I can only see the older button when I follow a new person. After I refresh the page, I can no longer use the older button on my page. – AngelWickenberg, on August 21, 2008 16:43

I registered the old name, but it is causing a problem for me in that I have updates to my Facebook account and now the new user name is not updating. I need to get updates for the NEW user name in both Tweetdeck, Twhirl and Facebook, but they only recognize the old user name, which is now a new account with no history. – AngelWickenberg, on August 15, 2008 11:00

I am testing a new user name but I have branded another name since I started using Twitter. Is it possible for me to reserve the old user name in case the new one doesn't feel right?
