I've created two pages here and here with the LabPixies gadget, but I can't get either one to save the text of the note. Anytime I refresh the page, the "note" always resets to the initial state. You might want to try a different "notes" Gadget.

Doesn't work like that. You can't upload a Word document for others to edit. You can copy and paste the contents of a Word document into a wiki page, which can be edited by others, but that's all. Uploaded documents can be downloaded to someone else's computer, but that's all.

Your question is titled "working offline", but your question refers to viewing your wiki. Be aware that none of these solutions will allow you to update your wiki offline; they are all just "mirror" utilities that make a static, offline copy for reading only.

Five days ago they said they are working on the "request access" feature that we've "been asking for", in response to this situation. When I pointed out that making users "request access" was just as bad as the current setup, they replied that they "have other solutions that will be implemented as this develops that should meet the needs as described above". Given the current progress on this issue (none), I would begin researching alternatives if you have pressing needs for open wikis in the near future.

I'll have a look at it, but there are complications. The old sidebar was a single "content area" - the entire sidebar. The new sidebar has 4 areas - the three "content areas" (one for each tab), and the tabs themselves. The code I used in the tabbed example, for instance, only styles the headers in the "SideBar" tab, not the other two. I will try to modify the example so that the changes work across all the tabs, and not just in one.

What CSS were you using before? The tabbed sidebar, as you have discovered, uses completely different CSS for it's styling. If you can show me what you did before, perhaps we can make it work for the tabbed sidebar.

Be aware that none of this will work in V2.0 wikis.
