some one can send u a zap and there will be an arrow after it if you don't have it.
you click on the arrow and click add to zaps, same with smileys.

or you go to the zaps icon and under all your zaps it will say manage zaps create zaps and get more zaps click on get more zaps and it will bring up the zaps and smileys and u click on the ones you want.
