Ouch, so maybe I was exaggerating the "easiness" of the fix /-:
Could you tell us your soup's name, so we can debug this further? – Andreas Fuchs, on March 11, 2009 18:28

Hey, glad you solved the problem! I have written up a detailed explanation of what went wrong over at http://gsfn.us/t/3dpd - It was basically a long-standing bug that we'd fixed, which some people's skin settings were built to rely on.
Andreas Fuchs replied on March 11, 2009 14:25 to the problem "My skin customization is gone and I can't get it back." in Soup:
Ouch. So here's something we didn't mention in the updates post (mental note: should post an update to that). Your skin has customized CSS settings (behind the "edit CSS" button), which means it probably relied on a bug in our skin customization system being in place, which it now isn't anymore. )-:
A few details on the bug: The precedence rules for CSS settings were (in increasing order of importance): Things that the skin defined (position of posts, width, etc); after that, the things that were defined in the "custom CSS" text entry box; after that, the customization settings you can set using color choosers and size sliders.
Doing it this way is pretty wrong: Before, you couldn't override any settings with custom CSS rules that were settable via the UI.
As we wanted to make skin customizations more accessible to new users, we made the decision to change the order of preference to: Stuff in the skin - font/size/look customization settings - hand-written CSS rules.
And now, how to fix this.
Since your custom CSS rules seem to have relied on the previous order being in place, it now looks wrong. Most likely this is due to the custom CSS now overriding colors/sizes/etc. that you set using the customization UI.
Fortunately, this is easy to fix: Edit the custom CSS rules (In the Skin tab, click on "Edit CSS...") and delete the rules that cause things to look bad. In my experience, it's easiest to hit "Preview" in between edits to see if these edits worked.
I'm sorry this change is giving you troubles, and I hope that the fix I outlined will work for you.
Andreas Fuchs replied on March 08, 2009 13:04 to the question "Stumbleupon post repeating infinitely down page!!" in Soup:
Ouch, that was a horrible problem: stumbleupon seem to have changed the format of their feeds' GUIDs: they now give each item a new GUID every time the feed is fetched: This led our feed checker to believe that every item was new every time it checked.
I've now built in a check to prevent this on our end in the future and will notify StumbleUpon of that problem (these GUIDs must never change to have any meaning at all). To remove the duplicate entries, you can delete the feed and all its posts and add your stumbleupon again. The duplicates will be gone and we won't add new dupes after that.
Andreas Fuchs replied on February 24, 2009 04:06 to the question "I would like to post adult content" in Soup:
It's cool that you ask - we haven't given a clear answer to this yet. As long as you don't post illegal stuff (underage porn, etc. - everything that makes cops come to us to come after you) - you are welcome to post it to your soup.
We'd appreciate if you set your soup to "stealth" if you do that, so it doesn't show up on the storefront, but other than that, go ahead!
Andreas Fuchs replied on February 23, 2009 02:54 to the question "duplicated Entries in Mysoup when posting via e-mail" in Soup:
I've found the issue: These posts go on a work queue, and sometimes are handled more than once; the check for whether a post had already been imported was wrong, so we pulled in that post more than once from a single mail.
Now that I've fixed the issue, we won't import a post if we already have a post with that message ID in your soup. This should eliminate all duplicates from now on.

A comment on the problem "Twitter not working anymore with Soup?" in Soup:
Augh. Flickr favourites are a bit tricky: The photos are put into your stream on the date they were taken, not when they were marked favourites: If you look at http://fdq.soup.io/?date=2009-02-02, your most recent flickr favourites are in there. – Andreas Fuchs, on February 19, 2009 18:51

fdq: Sorry for that, there was a programing error that prevented the progress of feeds from updating when there was an http error. I've updated the feed manually now (it no longer shows an error, but you can also delete it if you want).
We'll put the fix for the core problem online in about two or three hours.

Ouch, you're right, they do. I've identified the problem and will put a fix for it online in a few hours (need to do a bit of testing first). There is another problem with the new bookmarklet that the new version will fix (posting on firefox from sites that were in a frameset was broken), so stay tuned!
Andreas Fuchs replied on February 16, 2009 19:00 to the problem "soup-Bookmarklet + NoScript = Trouble" in Soup:
Ouch, I'm seeing problems with the bookmarklet and noscript, too. Are you testing with the new or the old version of the bookmarklet, by the way? We recently fixed the problems on sites like spiegel.de. If you are using the new bookmarklet, on which pages do you see the error message?
You still have to mark sites as (temporarily) trusted to make any more complex bookmarklet work on them with noscript (not only the soup one, but also evernote and others), unfortunately.

Andreas Fuchs replied on January 18, 2009 17:33 to the problem "Dudes, no animated GIFs?" in Soup:
neingeist: soup will show animated gifs, if the original picture fits the column width (imagemagick doesn't really like us resizing animated gifs )-:). This can be a problem on narrower skins (like "column"), but we do show the animation if you zoom in on the picture by clicking.
I'm still looking for something that works well in all cases, and will fix this as soon as a solution presents itself.
