This problem happens if your flash player does not support windowless mode.
As far as I know, this is the case for all stable Adobe Flash Player versions on Linux.
MacOS X and Windows are not affected.
This has been fixed in Flash Player 10, which should be released soon: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/fl... (search for "Linux WMODE")

I'm sorry that this is causing you so much trouble; the German text comes from Google trying to be smart about the location of our feed-scraping machine: it's in Austria, so it gives us the German thing: Arghl.
I'm currently trying to work out a solution to make Google not guess anymore for new feeds, but I'm afraid right now we aren't able to correct the text on the older imported items: Probably best to either edit them manually (ouch), or delete them and start importing them over again.

Ouch, it turned out that I expected this to be something complicated, which it wasn't: There was a missing " character in your "bestposts" div, which messed up the document structure and showed every post as an image.
I've fixed the offending post, and your soup should look OK again.
Goes to show that I should always test my hypotheses before posting them here (-:
I've added checking for bad HTML in the WYSIWYG editor, and the type-changing thing to my things that we need to test/fix.

No, not recently. But I can tell you version# of my firefox and the extensions I have installed:
*) Build identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.3) Gecko/2008092510 Ubuntu/8.04 (hardy) Firefox/3.0.3
*) Adblock Plus 0.7.5.5
*) CostomizeGoogle 0.75
*) Download Statusbar 0.9.6.3
*) NoScript 1.8.1.3
*) Update Scanner 2.2.3
Well, I can't reproduce it now. Could you change all post-types back so I can try to reproduce it on the frontpage?

Erm, wow. So here's what I think happened: We do keep a hidden "type" field for posts that can be changed and posted back, which will change the type of the post. (That's a problem: we shouldn't allow this. I thought we didn't, but apparently we do.)
So, it seems like something has managed to change the type of each of your posts on the front page to PostImage. Have you installed any form-related browser extensions recently? This looks very much like an over-eager autocompletion thing.

Just as an update on this one (it's been a while), we haven't heard back from Twitter, but there is another provider that can give us real-time updates from Twitter and a few other feeds with which we've had the same problem.
We'll integrate their service into our feed import scheme over the two next weeks.

As it happens, you can do that already, although in a non-intuitive way: Create a new group (http://www.soup.io/groups/create), then make it invite-only (in the group settings). You can post, either locally, by email, or via the bookmarklet: You'll be the only member, and you can treat it (and its siblings) as a secondary soup.
Unfortunately, there's no way to repost to a group (but we are working on that), so expect improvements to this soon.

Gott bewahre! I'm using Firefox 3.0.1 on a real OS, Gentoo Linux ;)
