Here's the latest update....I have been working with Colin at the support center...He wanted me to send him a copy of the error I'd been getting whenever I opened IE. The log was too large to open, so I cleared it, then opened IE and told it to sync. After I had done that, I checked my favorites in IE and found duplications again. I was afraid this would be carried to the server, so I went to my foxmarks account and found it to be OK. To make sure it didn't get messed up again, I deleted all the bookmarks from my IE browser, then did a forced download.
I now have correct bookmarks in both IE and Foxfire and the error I was getting whenever I opened IE has stopped. Of course, it will take a few days for me to feel like the problem is really fixed.

I've slept since doing the install. I don't actually recall whether or not I did a download at that time. I would have expected it to happen automatically at that point though. As I said previously, I rarely use IE, so all activity there since that time has been automatic. I don't use the sync button either though. I have it set up to sync on open and close.

April Galloway started following the idea "Tools for managing repeated bookmarks." in Xmarks.

Why Random duplications? I'm not smart enough to claim it's not my fault.Ok, This is the first time I've tried to figure out what's going on. I've looked through the conversations on the duplication problem and I don't know what I may have done wrong.
I've noticed random duplicates a couple of times lately. I'm not sure how long it's been going on. I started using Foxmarks this past fall. Before that I had a different product which has been discontinued.
It's possible that the duplication problem has been there for a while, but I only started noticing it this past couple of weeks. I think it started when I installed the IE Beta. At least I hadn't noticed it before that.
I have three computers. A laptop, a desktop that only I use (for school and website design) and a desktop that is used by the whole family. Since I had the other synchronization add-on before, all three of these already had my bookmarks before I installed Foxmarks.
The duplication problem is inconsistent. Sometimes it duplicates individual bookmarks within the same folder. Sometimes I find them outside the folder. Other times whole folders get duplicated. I tried simply fixing the problem on my main computer and letting foxmarks sync in the hope it would take care of things, but I soon had the duplicates back. I tried a forced upload to the server, but I still got duplicates.
Tonight, I logged onto the server and cleaned up everything there. If this doesn't resolve the issue, what else can I do? Am I going to have to delete all the bookmarks from all my computers and do a restore from the server? If I can't determine the cause of the problem, I don't think that will be a permanent answer either.
