A comment on the problem "focus when switching between songs on virtual desktop" in Songbird:
Whoah! Great call. Despite my making a classic mistake (assuming I knew the problem!) you killed it. Thanks, Michael! – Alec Resnick, on June 15, 2009 18:01

Alec Resnick reported a problem in Songbird on June 15, 2009 17:44:
focus when switching between songs on virtual desktopI'm running i686 Ubuntu 9.04 and I usually keep Songbird on a separate desktop. Each time a new song comes on using the last.fm add-on (http://addons.songbirdnest.com/addon/106), the Songbird window in the other desktop gets the focus. Since it's on another desktop, this doesn't switch to the window, but brings it up in my taskbar, flashing.
The only reason this is a problem is that it messes with the Alt-Tab order and occasionally the focus in other programs. I notice no issues when a new song comes on while Songbird is on the desktop I am working.

Alec Resnick reported a problem in Soocial on April 24, 2009 17:19:
Multiple gmail connections won't register and sync doesn't happenI can't seem to add more than one GMail/Google Apps account--it always just stays at one connection, even though I successfully log in and "grant access" via GMail/Google Apps.
Also, despite the fact that I have a connection, and contacts, syncing leaves my contact list empty, same with the backups.
The process seems pretty simple, so I'm not sure where I'm messing things up.
Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds good! I'd totally be up for helping out with coding this feature, if you're interested. . . – Alec Resnick, on June 26, 2008 18:03

Extending bkkeeper to other documents (e.g. papers) using the DOI?It would be really fantastic if I could not only document books, but papers and other documents I was reading. There's an ISBN-like registry for papers, the DOI (http://www.doi.org/) the "Digital Object Identifier." It would be an enormous hit among academics, scientists, engineers, etc. So much reading goes unshared! Let me know if you're interested and need a hand with it.
