Maybe Tracker can just track time automatically? It would be useful to see how long stories lasted (starting when they were added, ending when they were delivered). Wouldn't this be very relevant for calculating velocity?

The problem is in the URL matching patterns. To fix it, open up Preferences, go to the Advanced tab, then either enable "Allow browsing to any URL" or change the pattern match to *pivotaltracker.com* (mine was set to pivotaltracker.com/projects by default, which clearly won't work)

On one of my projects where we're using Tracker and I'm not the PM, I spend a lot of time in My Work. This is great for focusing on just what I need to do but it would be helpful to see how much stuff there's left to do in this iteration v. the next one v. later.

It would be useful to have a search like "requested:AVK" to see all the stories AVK has requested. This really helps to see what kind of stories one has been adding or considers important. It's also important for when people leave the team and you have to figure out who will become the new requester.

There's always history and you coming back to the project and seeing changes. If it's been < 5 minutes since I've opened Tracker (easy to tell via a Javascript timer), don't bug me with emails because I'll probably see the changes. – artvankilmer, on October 25, 2009 23:15

I agreed with others that this is a great feature of many useful tools (e.g. Basecamp, Highrise, Lighthouse)

Not sure I understand the value of NOT having this feature. The challenge with adoption of many web-based-services is that they force us out of our standard workflow, requiring authentication and browsers where there's no real added value if I'm just responding to someone's comment.

We use Basecamp all the time, and one of the key features that keeps it in our arsenal is the ability to respond to comments directly within the email thread, without having to open the app.

Person A creates a story, Person B gets an email about it.
Person A renames the story, nothing happens.
Person A comments on the story, Person B gets an email with the comment that may be confusing because it seems to be on a new story that (s)he was never notified about.
