ashughes replied on December 18, 2008 01:57 to the question "i phone compatability to Songbird?" in Songbird:
No. Not yet anyway. Songbird uses libgpod for ipod support. With the iPhone and iPod touch, Apple made drastic changes to their firmware; and they aren't sharing that information with developers in an effort to lock people into using iTunes (for obvious reasons).
We are unable to support these devices until libgpod supports them.
ashughes replied on December 18, 2008 01:48 to the question "Compare to VLC" in Songbird:
Songbird has GStreamer integrated into it's media-core. So, any media formats GStreamer supports will work with Songbird. My personal experience with VLC has been a very minimalistic one. It plays media, that's about it. Songbird is far more diverse than that. Songbird is not just a media player but a Web Media Player that seeks to facilitate an open media web. Much like Firefox has done for Internet standards, Songbird hopes to achieve the same for media standards. As such, Songbird blurs the line between web browser and media player.
Here is the Songbird feature page: http://www.getsongbird.com/features/
I think if you compare that to what VLC can do, you will start to see the difference between the two (very different) applications. You should see links on that page for the roadmap outlining future features.
I hope this explains what it is you needed explained.

A comment on the question "Removing add-ons." in Songbird:
This is because Add-ons are installed to your Songbird profile. When you uninstall Songbird, your profiles are untouched in case you want to reinstall and come back with all your settings/library intact.
rcw003's comment above is the preferred method of removing addons. There is a manual way to delete add-ons from your profile, but please try the method in rcw003's comment first. – ashughes, on December 18, 2008 01:39

ashughes replied on December 18, 2008 01:16 to the problem "How I do to remove all add-ons?" in Songbird:
You could do this manually by deleting extensions.cache, extensions.ini, extensions.rdf and the extensions folder. These can be found in your profile folder. Unfortunately, you neglected to inform us of your OS. The profile folder is stored in a different location depending on what OS you are using.

ashughes replied on December 18, 2008 00:51 to the problem "iPod Nano 4G Won't Sync With Songbird" in Songbird:
Since you indicate the iPod has never seen iTunes, I would like to ask if you have ever formatted the iPod. iPods do not come preformatted and the initialization by iTunes takes care of this process. This could be why it is not syncing properly with Songbird.
It might be interesting to know if MediaMonkey handles the initialization process as well.

Filing a duplicate request will only result in that feature request being closed as a duplicate. Hunting for duplicate bug reports and feature suggestions takes time away from us to work on fixing problems and getting new features out the door. Better yet, Sunemesys, why don't you post a link to the feature request you filed so other people can add their input to it? – ashughes, on December 17, 2008 23:13
