I am not sure what you refer to when you say "listing".

There is no numeric limit placed upon the number of songs that can be imported. The only limitation lies in memory usage and performance, which is something we are trying to improve.

You cannot physically delete ANY file from within Songbird currently. Files downloaded from Skreemr all go to one directory (check your download preferences to find what folder this is).

Songbird does not currently work with Streamripper streams AFAIK. We will most likely be working on streams, podcasts, subscriptions, etc in the next release. One could probably make an add-on that serves this purpose in the time being.

Unfortunately, no. There is so much other work that we are trying to get done for Genesis. There is no room to add new features.

File management is a much requested feature that we plan to work on for a future release.

Physically deleting dupes is a scary prospect for some users. It is so scary that the import dialog "removing duplicates", which did not actually delete files, had to be renamed.

Giving the user the option to delete, keep but don't import, or import anyway would be a good idea to help enhance the import process. We could put a checkbox on the dialog saying "do this for all files" for those folks who don't want to be bugged.

There is not a single-click method (ie. a nice button on the UI), but you can click Control > Jump To.

There is a PPC build, but it is a community support build. It is neither built nor supported (directly) by Songbird.

Considering your library size and the fact that it is on a USB drive, your performance numbers are in line with testing we have done in house. Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done for that immediately. A work around would be to store your library on a local drive, thus reducing the bottleneck of the USB interface.

That said, we are aware of the performance problems with Songbird. We are constantly working to improve performance with large libraries. We have consistently improved performance across past releases and will continue to do so.

Songbird 0.6.1 was the first release that was usable with libraries up to 10,000 files. With the current release, we are working toward 100,000 files.

While I suspect this isn't the answer you want to hear, it is the only answer I have. If Songbird is completely unusable, I suggest checking back in the next release.

Auto-numbering: All playlists have a # column that is merely an index of the song in the playlist. Is this what you are looking for?

Tag/Renaming: This is something that has been requested before. It is not likely that we will implement something like this pre-1.0. It is more likely to get done if via a community developed add-on.

Replace Characters: I think this would fall under the previous.

Currently, this is not implemented. It is a highly requested feature however. Look for it in a future release.

You would not lose your playlists, but again, the URL they point to would be incorrect. So they would most likely be useless to you.

As I stated earlier, we know this is a problem and are working to implement library rescan for a future release.

I am not sure where the iPod code lives, but it is in there somewhere. You could look around developer.songbirdnest.com. There is an API doc somewhere there.

We recently moved over to gstreamer (see marcus' comment). Please grab the latest nightly from developer.songbirdnest.com and see if this resolves your problem.

Songbird's library uses URLs to the file location you have specified. If you change the location of the files, you must remove all songs in the library and reimport them. We are looking to implement a library rescan in the future.
