In present we have no complete library from AggreGate to communicate with Device Servers (your EM120 for example) directly. It is interesting idea. And I will discuss it with AggreGate project chief. May be we could extract this part from AggreGate software and public it. Now I'm not ready to answer if it possible. May be a week later..
But I still don't understand why "far more than you need" is not enough for you? There is a way to connect 5 or more Device Servers to LinkServer for free. You can build your solution depending on this free LinkServer installation.
Of couse I can understand if you don't want to create a monster. May be you want to create a daemon?:) But if your targets will become complecated in future? Are you not afraid of becoming second Linus Torwalds?;)
Anyway. Here is a descreption of DS protocol.

If you will decide to write you solution from scratch it may be usefull.

WOW! I looked at AggreGate! It's impressive, but far more than I need.
What I've got is an application written in Java which uses the java serial api to read a 6 zone temperature scanner (http://www.contronautics.com/CN606fea...). What I'd like to do is hook an EM120 up to the scanner and read it over the network with Java code. I could write the code myself, but I'd prefer to use preexisting code if it's out there.
What would be perfect is to use the device access library from AggreGate without the AggreGate server and client (a more direct connection).

Oh! I forgot this page: http://aggregate.tibbo.com/docs/index... It is a LinkServer Java API page. May be it will be more suitable for you.
I just don't know what do you really want to implement. May be if you explain your applications objectives I can help more..

To access Tibbo devices over network it is a good idea to use AggreGate (http://aggregate.tibbo.com). AggreGate is Java application too. AggreGate is powerfull and has wide range of functional abilities. You just walk through AggreGates home page to discover what it can do.
For example to communicate with Tibbo device over network from Java application you can use LinkServer Web Service. See http://aggregate.tibbo.com/docs/index...
But may be you can find more suitable ability of AggreGate for your situation and targets. I recommend you to explore this tool.
