A comment on the problem "I can't set up my phone with Twitter; is my phone supported?" in Twitter:
In view of recent developments, I now recommend that you click the link
US Cellular customers cannot verify phones or post tweets via sms (Nov 2008)
and add the information requested by Twitter.
You - and other US Cellular users - may actually receive help in the near future.
Twitter clearly believe that progress on this is possible. – Eridanus, on November 13, 2008 19:17

I tried 21212, but my phone stops me from sending a message to that number; probably because it is international.
US Cellular and Cellular One are, indeed, two different companies.
I do plan on talking to them about the issue, but I'm really not holding out hope that it will fix the problem. Time will tell. – Brandon Cash, on November 13, 2008 17:56

Apparently, Twitter hasn't always been unsupported by US Cellular:
see this recent post by elsiecat.
Since you're both on US Cellular, you might even be able to help each other out. – Eridanus, on November 10, 2008 23:18

You might perhaps try Master Bob's trick (above) with the 21212 code which is really intended for Canadian users. But if it works, beware that you might incur international charges.
Please forgive my European ignorance: are US Cellular and Cellular One two different companies?
If I were in your position, I might politely inform my mobile carrier by e-mail that their failure to support Twitter meant I would recommend another carrier to all friends and acquaintances who asked my opinion on the matter.

Yes! its fundamental question, strange that its not been commented. We need Wakoopa to operate in an Offline mode too.....
User from India who use internet in the offpeak to get better package will show the wrong statistics, hence this is a very important point thats brought to the notice.
Thank you-

Really NOT a harsh reply. Don't be such a technocrat. Maybe you current customer = lifetime value need a quick response vs. data/info mining in Google. Just my 2cents worth... – spicer23, on October 26, 2008 23:43

Hello. May I ask -- from what phone number do you receive the updates for people that you follow? Is it also 40404?
If yes, what is the status of your phone when you check http://twitter.com/devices ? – mdy, on October 02, 2008 07:36

No idea, but CBW's international page makes no mention of additional fees.

I agree. Metropcs is crap for not allowing short codes and for forcing you to use their partners for graphics/ring tones/etc. – Jennifer L Murphy, on September 21, 2008 15:18

Eridanus: Yes that is correct. It's all our provider's (CBW) fault. – Master Bob, on September 09, 2008 23:06

Do I get this right? You're both in the USA - but successfully using Twitter's short code for Canada? I like it! (Bet it won't work for me in Germany, though). – Eridanus, on September 09, 2008 21:11
