If you put too many words in your tweet, you won't be able to post. Check the number to the right of the post box. If it has a minus sign before the number, that's how many characters you have to remove before the update button becomes available. That as my issue anyway...

some of us don't use facebook...and in fact hate facebook...and don't wish to open an account with them just to use twitter.
