Mahesh Asolkar asked a question in Jolicloud on August 02, 2009 23:21:
Mouse feedback off by quite a bitWhen I am using the notebook-remix interface in Jolicloud, I notice that mouse feedback is off by quite a bit. Application icons (and other links) are highlighted as if the mouse hovered over them, but the mouse pointer is nowhere close to the icon. Icons under the mouse pointer are not highlighted. It is very hard to click and start an application with the mouse.
This only happens in the notebook-remix interface. Everywhere else, the mouse behaves well.
Anyone else seeing this? Any idea for a fix?
I must mention that I am using an unsupported laptop (Sony VAIO VGN-T140P).
I've uploaded a video to YouTube to demonstrate this: http://bit.ly/5oi5Z

Looks like Seesmic in Jolicloud is just a webapp. Not the Adobe AIR application. Still pretty good though. – Mahesh Asolkar, on July 31, 2009 02:17

According to their blog (http://www.jolicloud.com/blog/2009/07...), Seesmic is now available in Jolicloud. I would suggest trying that while waiting for TweetDeck. In fact, I like Seesmic more than TweetDeck, although I haven't used it in Jolicloud yet.

I tried another method using 'cdrecord' (outlined at http://moblin.org/documentation/test-...), but it did not work. I guess moblin's .img and jolicloud's .img are not quite the same.
On the positive side, I now have a full set of 12 coasters (from in-the-name-of-jolicloud bad CDs!)

I would like to get my hands on a .iso too. My old laptop (Sony VAIO VGN-140P) is a tiny laptop, I think jolicloud should be just right for the form factor. However, it does not support booting from USB.
I've tried many things (ccd2iso, nrg2iso, mkisofs, plain renaming) to create a .iso file, burn it to a CD and boot from it. But nothing has worked so far.-

Mahesh Asolkar asked a question in Mozilla on June 03, 2009 06:19:
Update Firefox from command lineIs there a way to update Firefox from the command line?
On my Linux desktop, Firefox (nightly build) is installed in /opt directory with root privileges. This is used by more than one users. When I run Firefox, Help -> Check for Updates... menu is grayed out - because I do not have enough privileges I assume. I am reluctant on running Firefox just to update it.
It would be nice to have something like 'sudo firefox --update'.

FTP for auto-update download instead of HTTPWhen Firefox auto-updates itself (or Thunderbird for that matter), is it possible to use FTP instead of HTTP to download the update?

Mahesh Asolkar asked a question in Mozilla Messaging on December 02, 2008 22:18:
IMAP IDLE command, server side filters - questionsI use Thunderbird (3.0 nightly builds) to access MS Exchange 2007 email using IMAP. I've enabled the use of IDLE command so that the server tells Thunderbird when I get an email. However, I don't think it is effective enough. From reading about IMAP and the IDLE command, I have a few questions, may be someone can help me:
1. Does MS Exchange 2007 support the IDLE command the way Thunderbird likes it?
2. Is it true that the server 'pushes' only the email messages in the INBOX? If I have server side filters that move messages into folders upon arrival (which I do, a lot), do I still need to poll the server for those folders?
3. If I enable IDLE command in Thunderbird, and check the 'Check for new messages every N minutes' option, is it just redundant, or does it disable the use of IDLE command?
