Well, i must confess that my first idea with pretty basic : background, cover, title, controls but really the video proposed by THE-E is sexy !
Maybe a second step ?
Lib53 > yep, it would be a kind of media view, but a pure media view, turning off all dirty stuff (dirty but usefull, sure) of playlists, mediatheques, gonzo etc. Just the music, the cover, a Martini and my wife...
I really think it would be pretty easy to develop ?

missing basics

Songbird is a good promise. But using it remains a pioneer's choice, as Firefox 0.0x was at the beginning... I am hoping using Songbird would be some day as evident as using firefox ("i used cuz it's the best").
So here some of the points which are pretty inconvenient for me... hope it helps.
- memory use is indecent (already commented but still problematic),
- froze when using the searchbox (really problematic, especially when this is the main way to use a big database),
- no right-click with deleting options (1, delete from the playlist, 2, delete from the database, 3, delete from the computer)
- no shortcuts for editing tags quickly,
- no advanced tagging and naming option (tag from file, tag from mask, rename files from tags),
- no simple way for export playlist files to a folder,
- pretty bad management of playlists, but it has already been commented,
- no simple and integrated way for updating the library (3 options should exist : "update", "wash up", "rebuild")
- no good minimize function with reduction of the ram use.

there is the mini-player, the main player, but what about the maxi-player ? ;-)
I mean : with a shortcut, you switch to a slideshow-like player. Just a neutral background (black, for instance) on the whole window, and the cover art, and in option, title, artist and time for the current track. And players control.
All would be customizable... Ideally, everyone could choose the background image, the size for the cover art, the fonts...
By default, the maxi-player would be something pretty "chic" to have a B&O's touch.

Maybe it has already been proposed. But it would be a cool add-on...

Since there is already the "directory browser" plugin, implement a drag'drop function would be very usefull and simple. Or a simple right-click "save the files of this playlist to selected foler".

It's a basic and so usefull thing !

Would be cool to have the total duration of the whole nowplaying list... it's far more useful that the number of items (but keep it too)...

Well, problems continue. Songbird plays now the great majority of my mp3... but can not play some MP3 which do not have any particularity, nor in the name, nor in the folder where they are, nor in the encoder used for them... I do not understand. Hope songbird will provide a high quality mp3 support ! Songbird can play an entire album except one track, destife of the whole album had been encoded from the same cd...
