Boomer replied on November 15, 2008 18:27 to the discussion "You can't sync Notes on iPhone and Mac? and MobileMe? What??" in Apple:
I wish I had known this before I switched from my Treo to IPhone. I find it a real inconvenience not to have Notes sync with my new IMAC. Just boggles the mind, how this is not available. I too do not wish to use another application to do this, as I would like to have one program, interface with this as well.
I also wish that there was a better search for Contacts on the IPhone. Wish you could search with either name or company name. Too bad you can't search by city as well.

A comment on the question "Fire eagle updates are they bi-directional?" in Brightkite:
Oh, I read your post. I understand what you want, I just don't agree with it. First, brightkite kite doesn't say anything about privacy affecting fireeagle. All it does is change what your friends and public can see and in how much detail they can see it. I don't think brightkite is doing anything wrong.
You basically want Fireeagle to duplicate Brightkite's functionality, but the side effect of that is that you are almost requiring every site that can update Fireeagle to implement it too, even when it doesn't make sense for them. Say I update fireeagle through Loki, where having a private setting doesn't make sense, you'd make them implement it just to support this API? It doesn't make sense.
Your suggestion "(imagine being able to say that the street was public, but which city it was in was private!)" makes no sense either. The idea to know where you are so sites can provide relevant information around that area. Just giving the street name is useless for this type of service.
Some of your comments in the blog don't make a lot of sense either. There isn't a privacy mode in Fireeagle at all, but you seem to suggest there is. Just a 'hide' and 'unhide' me option. Maybe brightkite should have a 'don't update fireeagle' option, then you can go in with fine grained control and update the various sites. Your example of Dopplr is pretty bad since it doesn't accept exact addresses either, just cities.
Fireeagle offers plenty of privacy controls when you set it up. You just want new feature that's a toggle to change how detailed a location is passed on to the client apps. That's a new feature request, but not a problem with fireeagle's current privacy controls. As a final comment I propose Brightkite add another option on their privacy settings for Fireeagle. Specify my exact location, city or don't update at all. – Charles, on November 12, 2008 02:45

At least there is activity here!
Thomas, that employee post said they were "working on it" 3 months ago!
Any results, Brightkite? – Cadill, on November 12, 2008 01:23

Cadill: They already did, but in much the same way that Charles ignored the content of my blog post, you overlooked the little Employee post in this thread: http://getsatisfaction.com/brightkite... – Thomas, on November 12, 2008 01:21

Ha ha ... this thread would not be useless if someone would answer the original question... how to make Fire Eagle post the location to Brightkite.
Fire Eagle -> Brightkite (not Brightkite -> Fire Eagle)
Someone from Brightkite ... please let us know! Thanks. – Cadill, on November 12, 2008 01:20

Wait, you are making all this noise over something you think someone would want, no one has requested and that by your own admission you wouldn't even be using? I am on Dopplr, haven't used it much, but it doesn't even have the privacy options you are talking about. This is thread is pretty much worthless. Any other readers, just move along. – Charles, on November 12, 2008 01:11

Not really, that then makes Fire Eagle useless. What if I want Brightkite to tell Fire Eagle that I'm at home, which has a privacy flag set, then Fire Eagle tells Dopplr that I'm at home and that's private, so Dopplr shows my trusted friends I'm at home, but others that I'm in my home city? I don't know how granular Dopplr's privacy features are (I don't use it), but I know it'd be useful. – Thomas, on November 12, 2008 00:43

Ah, I see what you mean. I don't use the privacy options at all. This is hardly the fault of the Fireeagle though. I'm not sure that a private flag would be the right solution. (fortunately It doesn't really matter what I think) Brightkite could implement this easily by only passing fireeagle the city and state (or the appropriate info based on country) to fireeagle when the city only option is set. That would accomplish the same thing. – Charles, on November 12, 2008 00:03

Thomas,
I understand you don't like Fire Eagle, but the point of this thread is that there are certain people who want to publish their Fire Eagle location to Brightkite.
I would like to use Brightkite directly also, but my phone app (mologogo) only has the option to publish my GPS location to Fire Eagle (not to Brightkite), and I don't have an iPhone.
I hope you understand the goal of everyone here is to use Brightkite... we just need a way for Fire Eagle to publish to Brightkite. If you know how to do that, let us know.
Thanks! – Cadill, on November 11, 2008 23:29

Thomas, I understand you don't like Fire Eagle but this thread is about having Fire Eagle update Brightkite locations. Thanks for alerting us to potential privacy problems with this but for the moment, on this page, we're more concerned with having this particular feature working. – philgyford, on November 11, 2008 23:27

Fire Eagle offers the options of publishing to services, but instead I use Brightkite because the iPhone app is remarkably good at publishing my location, and I like to post photos to locations. Fire Eagle gives the option of publishing data to other sites (you totally didn't read my blog post) but you cannot publish that data with a "privacy" flag, as Fire Eagle only supports one level of privacy: tell the site my full address, or don't. Not: tell the site my full address, and tell the site to only show trusted friends my full address, and my city name to everyone else.
Fire Eagle sucks. – Thomas, on November 11, 2008 22:52

You can tell Brightkite your city name via Fire Eagle? How??? That's what I want.
The people on this thread are a small sample of people who actually want to publish their location. It stands to reason that these particular people are less concerned with the privacy of their location than the average bear. :) – Cadill, on November 11, 2008 22:40
Thomas replied on November 11, 2008 21:12 to the question "Fire eagle updates are they bi-directional?" in Brightkite:
Fire Eagle doesn't understand the idea of location based privacy. I can either tell Brightkite my full address (and brightkite, since it does have the ability to mark a location as "private", will robably censor it) via Fire Eagle, or I can tell Brightkite only my City name via Fire Eagle.
I covered how bad Fire Eagle is for privacy a few months ago, and the lack of respect people seem to have for their own privacy in this very thread is disturbing.

Eduardo replied on November 05, 2008 18:38 to the discussion "You can't sync Notes on iPhone and Mac? and MobileMe? What??" in Apple:
I already downloaded Ilium Software's eWallet but still waiting the development of the sync with a Mac. The good thing: the encryption, the bad, I will have to key in all my secure notes (400 minimum). I'm already syncing using the notes from entourage as a contact with a category (eg Passwords, Bank Acct or Credit Cards) and works. The downside the lack of encryption
Is there a way to import from entourage to eWallet?
