You know, I sympathize because yes for many people this is a large amount (from Austin myself, I could afford to go and did), but this is really a LOW amount considering the overhead involved in renting the convention center and costs. So, I felt it was a true bargain -- even if perhaps a bargain you could not afford.
So -- I'm sorry you could not go, but feel the price was extremely reasonable given the quality and length of the event and the many features (although I agree that if it was feasible to offer a work-study option for locals, that would have been nice for someone in your situation).

Thanks for Netroots Nation -- a few carps but mostly FABULOUSIt was mostly GREAT! you were great at surprises from Obama Girl to Gore, but the very best were the wealth of presenters from Samantha Powers to David Sirota to Andrea Batista Schlesinger (a new person to me, but fabulous!
Harold Ford was a depressing waste of time -- I bolted my food and left but heard that Markos failed to really confront him - but the good stuff more than made up for him.
The panels where people really truly interacted were far more inspiring than the few where people divvied up the time 10 minutes each and each did a short lecture -- those weren't nearly as good.
I'm an early bird so I missed Governor Dean (whom I adore) and Wesley Clark since they were in the evening, but I'm probably the world's earliest bird, so imagine I am in the complete minority here. Just my two cents worth.
But overall it was AWESOME, WONDERFUL, MOTIVATING, and AMAZING. I saw so many people I had only read but never seen, from Lawrence Lessig on. I heard so many thoughtful audience members ask amazing questions. I met so many stimulating people I had short discussions with.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your excellent work!
