I feel exactly the same. I must have tried ten different online money management services, and so far, Buxfer has the best features...but it still randomly leaves out transactions! That's a rather critical problem for a finance application!

Try putting the credit in as a refund. That should make it balance out like you want.

I think you can rename tags that way, but I agree having them non-case sensitive would be nice. Being able to use an alias for a tag would be an even better (but much more complicated to implement) option...I use my non-smartphone to text inquiries to my account. It would be nice to have a nice descriptive tag like "My discretionary spending" for the web interface, and reports, but be able to reference that tag as "me" in a text message.

I wish I'd seen this question earlier...just as I'd gotten my budget worked out the way I wanted to, I paused my credit card payment budget, and now I can't get it back. Has anybody done this before?

I'm also confused as to why this works this way. I have a budget category for discretionary spending that has a set amount each month, with rollover. But when I get, for example, a check as a gift, I'd like to be able to deposit that check and mark it also as "discretionary spending", for a one time increase of that category. Is there some other way to do this that I'm overlooking?

Missing transactions!

When I created my Buxfer account I configured it to sync automatically. I later changed this to sync manually, because I liked being able to review and tag my transactions as I imported them, without worrying I would miss one. Well, it's been a busy week, and I haven't logged in since April 15th. I tried to synchronize my transactions today (April 23rd), but buxfer only imported 2 transactions, from April 22nd. I checked my account on my bank's website, and sure enough, there are transactions on the 16h, 17th, 20th, and 21st, all of which are missing! The fact that the most recent transactions (those I'm most likely to remember) synced, but others did not, with no indication that anything is wrong, has seriously shaken my confidence in Buxfer. Is this because I have it set to only synchronize manually? If I turn it back to automatic, will that keep this from happening again?

Initial Rollover amount not working?

I added to categories to my budget that I knew I would need an initial rollover amount for, but I didn't know what it was at the time, so I just added them with a $0 initial balance. Today, having calculated the initial balance, I tried to add it, but it does not seem to have worked. When I click the button to edit my budget, the amount is still there in the "Initial balance" box, but when I save the changes, it still shows $0 rolled over. I tried deleting one of the items in my budget and re-adding it with the initial balance, and I still have the same problem.

Can I mark reminders as paid?

I'm currently using Microsoft Money, and I've tried many websites trying to find an online alternative. I'm hoping Buxfer might finally be what I'm looking for, but there's just one thing I can't figure out...In Money, my bill paying process goes like this:

I open up the software and go to the tab that shows my upcoming bills. I see that I have 4 bills due in the next two weeks, and I decide to pay them all now. As I pay each bill, I right click on it and select "enter in register", which basically changes it from a reminder to a pending transaction.

This way, if I go back to look at my upcoming bills a week later, it no longer shows those I already paid, even if they're not "due" yet. How do people handle this in Buxfer? Is there some way of doing it that I'm just not seeing?
