Hi. Twitter had lowered the API rate limit a few days ago to 20 requests per user per hour due to 'over capacity' errors.
So third-party applications that pull updates, direct msgs, and @replies with each refresh (like Twitterfox) are likely to hit the hourly API limit quickly, since that counts as three separate requests.
Twitbin might work better for you while the API rate limit is this low, since it only pulls one of the three (whichever the user specifies) each time it refreshes.

There's a long list of apps that work with the Mac at the Twitter Fan Wiki: http://twitter.pbwiki.com/Apps
I personally prefer Firefox browser extensions myself. I've tried both TwitBin and TwitterFox. They're different and I use them at different times depending on the 'mood' that I'm in.

avner ronen replied on June 18, 2008 15:05 to the problem "how can i tell boxee to scan a folder I have on another computer/storage device?" in boxee:
boxee will look automatically at your local Movies, Music and Pictures folders on the Mac, but boxee can also scan your PC, storage device or any other device it is able to find on the network.
to add a new folder you'd like boxee to scan you need to:
1. go to Settings
2. select Media Sources
3. select Network Sources
4. select Add New Source (boxee will scan your local network for devices)
5. choose the device you'd like to add, select the folder and click Add Source
6. you'll be asked to provide a name for the new source and choose whether the folder contains Video, Music or Pictures
7. click Add and you're done
boxee will start scanning these folders and every time it finds new content you'll be able to see it in Recently Added on your home screen
