Could someone explain hashtags to me?
Every so often, I see Twitter posts with stuff like #snow or #news in them and I'd love to know more about what that is and how to use it. Thanks.

TomTom is stuck on connection screen.
    Hi all,

I was hoping someone could help me here, since I can't find anything about this in the user manual or on the TomTom website.

This question is regarding the TomTom 130.

I was successful at getting my TomTom to download its updates from the web, however, the device has been stuck on the connection screen ever since. I have disconnected it and reconnected it, powered it up and down, and I've tried the 15 second power reset.

It doesn't matter if it is connected to the USB or not, it will not leave the connected screen. Is there a way to get it to recognize that I am no longer interested in interfacing with the computer so that I can get the regular startup screen? Regardless of how it is disconnected or restarted, it keeps flashing the red 'X' until it is reconnected and there seems to be no way to end the interface mode either via the computer or the device itself. Makes me want a Garmin.

With ours it was a hardware malfunction. The offending part had to be replaced. There has been no trouble since then however.

No. I still haven't found a means of resolving the issue. I think someone in a customer service department is my best bet, but it seems as if there is no way to contact someone who could look at my iTunes account and at least TELL ME what 'changed.' – Axey, on June 27, 2008 05:45

I'll bet if you took it to the Genius Bar, it might be something they can fix with a simple software patch and they might even do it for free. Give it a try. It's better than having a goofy-acting machine, no?

Why can't you take your unit to an Apple Store and get it looked at? The people at the Genius Bar are pretty good. They fixed my machine. Your iMac is obviously malfunctioning. Get it checked out. If it's still under warranty, you can even get it fixed at no charge.

iTunes won't let me buy music.
iTunes refuses to let me purchase music from the iTunes store. When I attempt to buy a song, I keep getting taken to an account information screen after I've put in my password. The iTunes account page says my information has 'changed' but everything looks correct when I look it over. Add there is no prompt as to WHAT changed. WTF?

The account has worked previously. I had not changed payment method prior to this problem, but changing payment method as a response to the problem accomplishes nothing. It doesn't work whether I'm paying through PayPal, or paying directly. Bloody annoying. Add that there is no link I can click to get some sort of interactive customer support, either. I don't want to skim through 400+ forum posts. I want to buy some music.

    Article on Diesel Subarus
Thought this would be interesting to share. Diesel Subarus. If sales take off in the U.S. this could be a great opportunity to convert a favorite *new* car (as opposed to 1982 diesel Mercedes) to biodiesel fuel.

    Axey
Yeah, they are sometimes late with my electronic statements, too. I hate to say it, but sometimes I think companies do this stuff deliberately to rack up extra revenue from late charges. As a back up, I set my online banking account to remind me when my bills are due each month so I can get them paid regardless of whether Sprint decides to goof around with the electronic bills. I've found that the Sprint website will still reflect my charges when I check it. If I know my payment is due at the same time each month, I check the website right before I do the bill pay and I can get the total charges in before a late fee kicks in.

    iPhones that aren't AT&T?
Will iPhones ever be available to carriers other than AT&T? I like the iPhone, but I don't want to switch carriers just because I like a phone. Add that I don't want to start messing around with unlocked phones because of software updates screwing up the phone.

    Subaru Hybrids? Diesels?
I'm curious to know if Subaru plans on integrating hybrid technology into any of its vehicles. If so, how soon? Also wondering if Subaru offers its diesel models in the US and if they are easily convertible to biofuel?

I should've posted an update on this. I ended up taking the Mac to an Apple store. The Genius Bar fellows looked it over and took it in as a warranty service. They had to work on it twice to fix it. The problem ended up having to do with an electrical problem with the Mac. Some parts were replaced and we downloaded the OS patches while it was in the store. The Genius Bar did a fantastic job fixing my machine. It works great now.

Where is the 'everyone' tweet list?
Why can't I see the 'all' tweets page anymore? I used to enjoy going there to read the new recommended users and tweets from everywhere and now I can't. Where is it? Or if it's gone, bring it back. I miss it.

Brand new iMac - Powers up, shows apple, then screen goes black.
I just bought a brand new iMac today as a gift for my mother. I was trying to set it up and get everything working before introducing it to her, but ran into a problem I can't figure out how to fix. When I power it up, it either repeatedly powers up and then shuts back off, or it powers up, shows the Apple logo, then drops to a black screen. In either mode, it is unresponsive. I have tried all the suggestions in the instruction manual for resetting it and interrupting this freezing and powering cycle, but nothing works. I have seen on another thread that this is possibly a problem with Leopard and Apple has some patches to fix it. The problem is, I can't even get the machine operating to the point where I can get to the Web to download those patches. Any suggestions? I tried calling Tech Support, but it was after hours. I'm hoping they offer Saturday help.

Axey reported a problem in I want Sandy on December 08, 2007 18:39:

    Axey
    Sandy deletes OnStar from contacts
When adding contacts to Sandy, attempting to add OnStar (ex: OnStar: 555-555-5555) results in 'OnStar' being listed as a contact's organization instead. The 555-555-5555 is then shifted to a generic 'phone' when it would be much clearer if it could remain 'OnStar' or something like 'Cell2.'
